Spider-Man 4 dropped, franchise being rebooted

Why does this shock anyone? They were already talking about "rebooting" The Fantastic Four. Besides, it shows it is REALLY a comic movie. Origin stories are always changing in Marvel, it seems.

You've got a point there. Have you seen what they've done with ole web head the last couple of years? He's no longer nor never was married, although now they're teasing a revisit to that, he came out a press conference, but the same deal he made with the devil that erased his marriage also erased that little moment.

Or... let's go back further and reminisce about the clone saga!

I guess no matter what they do, it can't be any more ridiculous than what they've done in the source material.

Is it confirmed that was the case? I read the rumor but I hadn't heard it confirmed. Of course, considering what he did with Harry Osbourne, you make a valid point.

John Malkovich pretty much confirmed it yesterday or the day before. He said that he was just waiting for the final script to arrive and hoped that the delay would be over so that they could start filming.

I wouldn't have a problem with FF done right though.
Those films were kiddie fare and silly, I really hated them.
Don't get me going on how they screwed up Surfer and Galactus.

Yeah, that's about where I quit. My first issue was the first black costume issue, and kept up with it until about that time. I had enough at that point.

I actually enjoyed all 3 films, the only thing that ruined 3 was emo-spiderman. I say bring on the reboot, I'll see it. I wonder if they'll bring on Jake Gyllenhaal as Spiderman this time like they originally wanted to.

Jake Gyllenhaal? Play a teenage Spiderman? Granted he is only 29 years old, but given how long these movies take to make, by the time we get to the 3rd one he'd be nearly 40.

Spiderman 1 rocked, 2, was lousy, 3 sucked.

Agreed that 3 was lousy though from all the articles and interviews I've read I got the distinct impression it was more because of Avi Arad's meddling than anything else but maybe we'll never know for sure on that point.

But I gotta disagree on the second one - I thought Spider-Man 2 was fantastic!

I liked the Spiderman movies. I thought they put too many villains in instead of concentrating on just one at a time. But overall, the series was pretty darn well made in my opinion. Given the box office numbers, seemed they were doing very well with it so far.

I think tis is a huge mistake myself, the studios are walking away from a successful franchise, which is almost always a big mistake.

Spiderman 1 was like watching an episode of Power Rangers. And if you're a PR fan, I want to clarify that I don't mean that in a good way. Part two was great, but obviously an anomaly. Three, well...it wasn't Batman and Robin, but you could see it from where you were viewing.

Dunst is a horrible Mary Jane. I'll take my actresses with white teeth, thank you. Seriously, I wouldn't turn my head if I walked by her on the street. How is she a character who eventually becomes a model in the comic?

The direction of these films was slapstick, bright, oversaturated, cartoony. I can't for the life of me figure out why they're so popular. The cinemetography on the first one makes it look like an after school special.

High School, eh? Sounds like Ultimate Spider-man time. Which is okay with me because the stories were pretty good. of course I don't have high hopes if Sony is calling the shots though.

A friend of mine who is an FX artist got laid off Spidey 4 when the powers to be decided to re-write the script! I really liked Tobey as Parker... I don't like the idea of Spidey 90210 :thumbsdown I was looking forward to the original script introducing the Scorpion for Spidey 4.

You have to look at why this is happening -Raimi, who is a truly talented director, did not want to make a bad movie. He stood up to Sony and said he wouldn't it - same thing he said to Avi and Arri when they told him to crowbar Venom into the last film, he gave in that time because he was under contract for 3 and look what happened. The fact that Avi Arad (who was fired from Marvel studios by it's investors for allowing Ed Norton to pen Hullk), the man who argued with Rami that Spidey stopping a runaway train did nothing but slow down the movie, these movies are about to take a dive from tolerable to unwatchable trash. They have now gotten rid of the one guy who didn't always let them do what they wanted. They will hire Bret Ratner or some other bend over for butter director and there you will have it. Once again, movies that people will pay to see but forget they own on dvd.

Like they loved the reboot/remake of Batman, not once but twice - even with villains we just saw on the big screen a few years earlier. Not really an old film itself.

I hope it is good - whatever they do i will go see.
