Spawn Mask

Here is a Spawn movie mask that I had bought about 5 years ago.

I also made a silk cape for it & added green lenses for the eyes.

In the process of trying to make a cape/collar for my suit atm this is superb! unfortunately i'm really bad with fabric/sewing so not sure if I might have to commission something like this....

What'd you use to keep the rigidness of the collar wire?

I used thick wire to frame it.

It was tricky to make the collar.:wacko

Yeah the problem I'm encountering is making the cape sit on the suit right.... best way to fit it is to have the cape secure UNDER the cowl then sit the cowl over the top but problem with that is collar won't work....

At the moment I'm considering either a separate collar from the cape or going TDK style with magnets around the shoulders to attach the cape but its really difficult to have the collar sit right with movement etc...

I think the cowl as a separate piece with strong magnets would be the best solution for stability.

It may bounce around & look odd though if not supported right while you move.

that looks BADASS
for the cape, I remember seeing in a department store they had fabric wrapped around a pole but it was hard, as if they covered it with a glue so it would keep that wavy wrapped around shape.
try looking into that, so you can shape it with those long trianglular angles Spawns cape has.

I have some foam rods that I could possibly use to stop the collar being toooo rigid but I think a wire frame would be best,

Interesting idea coating the fabric in a pva glue or something like you use to do in school would definitely keep its shape that way...

I am still jealous.....

Oh hush! I feel the same about your Guyver and its not even finished yet!! although everytime I look at your avatar I'm damn tempted to do a Green ranger or maybe White Ranger....

arrrrgh should really finish my current projects before I start new ones...

Just registered on RPF as a great site and also cause I am amazed at the Spawn work on this thread, I love the costumes and masks!!

I myself will attempt a Spawn mask as soon as I have a little more money and hopefully it will look just a little like yours!
I have no experience in mask making, I am just dedicated and I like art, and I know that will be enough to start hehe.

So any suggestion in making a latex mask for Spawn is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

beautiful job: do you let the waterclay dry? most how-to's say to use non-drying oil clay... if you let it dry, how do you make your plaster casts (and get the plaster off the dry water-clay?)
Good Luck!
