Spandex "boots"...how do I attatch a hard sole?

I don't want to wear holes in the bottom of spandex booties so I have to attatch a sole to them, right? Can anyone suggest how, or has anyone done this and had good luck with the results? I'd love to hear what you've done.

I did it a little backward from what you're talking about...but I took an old pair of shoes and used Tanner's bond contact cement to bond my material over the shoe and create a boot. It's a little more involved than I can explain on my own, but I found that sithcamaro's Jack Sparrow boot tutorial is very helpful. That's what I used it for and saved myself mucho $$$!!

I bought a cheap pair of athletic shoes from K-Mart and used a razor knife to separate the sole from the upper. I then inserted a aftermarket shoe insole into the spandex footie and pressed down into the athletic sole which I had filed with Shoe Gloo. It worked great and it ain't coming off.

In the image, it is Terra's boots (black with white sole)

Necro-posting!! It's ALIVE!!!

It's just my opinion, but I've never understood why people frown on adding information to old threads. Old threads popup when performing a search. Unless you are reading every post every day, that's how a person generally happens upon these things.

So, I too was searching on attaching soles to fabric. I had some information to add that will help the next person that searches. Where's the harm in that? More knowledge can never be a bad thing.

Well that was awfully presumptuous of you. I don't recall anyone "frowning" on anything.

The presumption comes with old age. I'm sure I'll turn out to be a sour old maid that yells at neighborhood kids when their ball lands in my yard.

I'm sorry, the last thing I want to do is offend anyone in the RPF. I sincerely think you are all talented, creative geniuses.
