Source For Quality SW Costumes?

Aside from Captain Carter, is there any other source for high quality costumes from the prequel trilogy?

I am familiar with CC's work, which is outstanding, but right now, I'm looking to see what other varieties are available, even if they're the same costumes that are offered on CC's website.

Thanks.

Speaking of Captain Carter, does anyone know how to get in contact with him?

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I've saved the URL address into my favorites, and will be considering each of these sources when I come around to making a final decision on who to purchase from.

At the moment, I'm mostly interested in finding a costumer who makes the Anakin AOTC/ROTS tabards with the accurate folds along the edges, which are supposed to be secure, preventing the tabards from inflating with air, as was the case with my current tabards. I've tried contacting CC to see if she has updated her tabards, but I can't seem to get in touch with her. She apparently lost the Comcast e-mail, while the 'costumes@captaincarter.com' still seems to be accepting mail. Still, I haven't gotten a response. I hope she's still in the business of costumes.

When is MR supposed to be releasing their costumes? I hope they realize that it would be in their best interest to have them released a considerable amount of time before Celebration 4.

Inflating with air? That sounds peculiar.

My current tabards have a tendency to inflate because air gets in from the seamlines along the sewed edges. The original tabards are securely folded along the edges, whether it be by glue or whatnot, so no air gets in between the tabard layers. With my current tabards, you have to constantly press the air out after every half an hour or so.

Sounds like your tabards are made from a poor quality PVC or vinyl instead of a nice breathable leather. That shouldn't be happening with a properly made Anakin tabard.

Although I'm not familiar these type of materials, I would hesitate to say that the synthetic leather of my current tabards are poor in quality, but that's just my opinion. If the sides had been glued together, the inflation would've been prevented, completely.

As you can see, the edges are sewed together, leaving thread holes that allow passage of air. They are moderately inflated in this picture. When they inflate to their maximum capacity, it's definitely noticeable.

I suppose was just the method of putting the layers together that resulted in this problem. I saw a lot of people with accurate tabards at C3, so there has to be a few sources buy them from.

Whether it is poor quality vinyl or not, vinyl is plastic and not breathable like leather. If you had leather tabbards, it would not inflate like that at all.

Slit the underside?
[/b]
:lol I never thought of that. Damn.

Captain Carter referred to these tabards as "pleather," which I took it as meaning synthetic leather of some kind. Similarly, I read in the VD that Anakin's tabards are also made of synthetic leather, unless they're just meant to represent a synthetic material in the SW universe, and are actually made of real leather. Are they made of real leather? Is vinyl one of the materials used to simulate leather?

Where are those MR costumes.?

Hi Imperious.

I temporarily disabled my email addy on my website so I can concentrate on current projects, but the addy you have is unfortunately pretty old. PM is being sent.

I also have some pics of some remade Anakin tabards on my website. I have sewn in a strip of fabric over the shoulders, on the underside, that allow the pleather to breathe better. It also helps the tabards stay on the shoulder better. I will also be offering real leather tabards in the future.

The pleather that is used is the best I've been able to come across -- vinyl or even some stretch pleather can either be too thin or too stiff, so I have stuck with my current contact. The good thing is the stretch does allow it to breathe more than regular vinyl and it has a softer feel as well as a soft backing and isn't as stiff as some of the mainstream retail fabric I've seen.

Hey, there.

Great to see you on the board again. I was afraid you might've left the costume business.

I'm thrilled to hear that you've updated your tabards. I'll be browsing through your website right after I finish with this post.

Thanks. I also sent you a PM and would be happy to discuss how to change your tabards. I want you to be happy with them.

I wish I could get online more but lots of stuff happening as of late. But I'm just glad I caught your thread so I could get the chance to talk with you.

Kind Regards
Sheri

Capn' -

I'm intrigued with your pics of upcoming projects from L5R and Firefly.

My wallet is laughing at me right now, but I'm still intrigued.

Glad to see another L5R Player. :) Do you do LARP? I haven't posted pics yet from the most recent LARP in which I did costumes for a Crane and the Mantis clan.
