Sorsha from Willow Costume Build

Obviously still have a ways to go via weathering the armor and making the duster, adding more to the chainmail. But this is the product of my painting and attaching everything tonight.

Wow, what a difference it makes once you've coloured it! How did you colour it, what stuff did you use?

I used Eco-Flo in Silver and Black. I'd painted a watered down black first. Then one layer of Silver. Then a layer of silver, but before it was dry I brushed in a small amount of black and mixed it. I did the two colors together because sometimes the armor appears to be silver and metallic in appearance, but most the time it looks very black. Its probably because there are different sets of armor for different scenes, (just like I've noticed she has heeled boots in some scenes and flat boots in others) so I tried to get the best of both worlds.

I think it will look even more put together with the duster :p

This definitely was a great movie, I'd love to make General Kael's costume if Lemarchand ever gets around to molding the face plate lol. Your's looks like its coming along wonderfully, can't wait to see it finished!

Okay, the proportions are a bit off but it was the first time making anything like this. I think next time I'll try making it a different way. For now I am pretty pleased with the helm. Please forgive my tired face. I've been working non-stop all day on costumes for Dragon*Con

One shot back from this weekend. My helmet was on crooked for this shot. I wish the photog would have told me. Oh well.

More to come. After taking the costume for a test drive I now know what I will need to make better for next time.

Looks really good and having recently watched Willow, Sorsha often wears her helmet slightly wonky, so actually you're being screen accurate. Do we get to see the rest of the costume?

Yea! I am awaiting more full body shots. Here's a teaser one photog sent me :D

I'm quite pleased with a lot of the shots I saw from this shoot. We found a willow tree (lol! IRONIC) in downtown Atlanta. And if you took photos in the right way, the branches helped make the buildings in the background go out of focus, so it looks like we aren't in the city anymore.

Costume looks movie quality and you look the part, you should be proud. I hope my LOTR ranger costume comes out half as good as yours.

This is so cool! I love it when people dredge up great characters from movies of my youth and do costumes from them. Especially when they do them this well. Love it!

A better full body shot. As I update parts I need to update and craft the remaining weapons, I'll be sure to post progress.

Oh you look so awesome! I definitely squealed a little when I was browsing the rpf just now and found this thread... I'm so psyched to see someone doing this costume, and doing it so well! I've been wanting to do this myself for awhile and get my husband to be Madmartigan.. but he thinks no one would recognize us so he won't go for it. I'm gonna keep working on him though :p Great job!!!

Congrats on making such an amazing costume. In future I'm planning a Sorsha costume and seeing this makes me all the more positive I can make it and make it look good :) Sorsha and Madmartigan had the most amazing costumes for the film.
