Some surgery on a DPCA Vader

I've got a DPCA Vader helmet thats been converted into an ANH version. I got this from a member a while ago and I believe its originally from SS Props from Italy. Anyway, I don't like the 3 prong flair at the top of the mask that is there in all DPCA Vader masks. If I wanted to make the mask look the way it was actually made for ANH with just the three Apple pad connector things at the top what would I have to do? Just cut the huge 3 prong crown off? If I were to do that and fill it in, would it be roughly the same size as it should be for ANH? What kind of mods do I need to do to the dome in order for the dome not to hang too far over the eyes? Any info would be appreciated.
