Some questions regarding my Warmachine build - Arc reactor model

So, are you just making these as stand alone display pieces? If you're making it to go in the suit, it won't ever be seen (if you're trying to make an accurate suit--and by the looks of your arc reactor model, accuracy is important to you).

I'm going to apologize in advance for this... This is the one thing that bugs me the most about Iron Man builds. As great as your model looks (and it does look great!), the arc reactor isn't seen while the suit is being worn. The unibeam/RT is what you see:

Now if you're just going to have this as an extra layer of accuracy and detail behind your unibeam, more power to you! Sorry for the mini-rant... :thumbsup

I dont know if this will help or confuse us more...:confused

Facts from the movie:
1) James Rhodes took the MKII
2) Surprisingly, MKII has its own Arc Reactor separated from Tony Stark's chest... or is it actually the Unibeam?.
3) Then Hammer Industries turned the MKII to War Machine
4) Not sure if Hammer Industries has the same technology to make a Unibeam on the Warmachine suit of armor and Rhodes wear the Arc Reactor on his chest (which is unlikely)
5) The Arc Reactor or Unibeam on Warmachine was never Red in color.

Oh, and one more thing... The unibeam was said to be just a focusing lens for the RT blast and the whole suit get its power from the Arc Reactor/RT unit... I wonder how the War Machine was powered... :confused

Whether this is really the facts or I'm just missing something (inconsistencies).

Please, someone chime in and enlighten our minds... :confused

You're right about that, however this promo image...

...leads everyone astray

Yeah, I love that image. Some people say that the arc is white when he is standby, and it turns red once he is in battle-mode (something like that). That is why I wanted to get both red and white LEDs in there.

I am making it to get into a suit, but my suit will not be finished very soon. I also want to be able to take it out and display it indeed, so that's why I'm making the whole arc (and now its also just some modelling practice :lol )

EDIT: just watched the battle scene at the end of Iron Man 2, the only thing that lights up red ar the eyes indeed. Still like the idea of a 2 color arc though, so if it's possible I will still make it (have to receive my wires shortly so then I will be able to tell if it's going to fit)

Your models look awesome..I'm going to build my reactor Also..i thought it was red also in the movie its white but i will also make mine double colors..red and white just in case....you inspired us..well at least me....a lot keep up the work

Sorry man, im not normally one to interject, but you're not 100% correct. Here is a still from the suit up of the MkIII The window in the chest is entirely transparent and you can clearly see the reactor behind it. Same story with this screenshot of the MkV. The MkIV is the same, as can be seen from the models of it I've posted and im pretty certain that in the MkVII scenes that the window is totally transparent as well. The uniform light colour is probably meant to represent how the light is extremely bright, or just to make CGI easier. I think at the end it just comes down to personal preference as to how you build your suit.

That's not the arc reactor you are seeing there, that is the unibeam.

I'm with Kevin. I recently found out too but it was too late, I made arc reactor and put it in the chest.

I saw the movie again, especially when the suit being taken off (iron man 2)
Yes, the clear glass is stick with the chest plate.
The unibeam attached to "underchest" plate, and the arc reactor is behind it (or sitting in Tony's chest).

Ahh right I see now and stand corrected. What I thought you were referring to was that no detail at all is visible through the chest piece, just a solid light. Although I think my arc reactor is sufficiently non screen accurate to pass for either, perhaps I might modify it :D

1. Yes. Yes he did.
2. Tony went and installed arc reactors into all his suits. Proven by the fact that all the suits are "powered" in their display cases. More than likely, it's from him learning his lesson with Obie taking his mk 2 chestpiece in the first movie and running the mk 1 piece completely out fighting warmonger.
3. Yup again.
4. Hammer Industries doesn't have the capacity to make a decent cup of coffee, let alone unibeam/repulsor tech. :lol
5. No. But in the promotional imagery and in many of the models the eyes and chest have a red tinge.
I think if you take your plan with the white LEDs and intersperse a few red ones that light in conjunction, it'll look cool.

The connector is a 6 pin XLR which you can get at Mouser.com #568-NC6MXX-BAG. To be 100% accurate you need the old style which would be hard to find. The new one will be very close, just remove the silver tab at the top (where the notch is on the original plug).

Hi markkNL! from where is come out all the detail in the model? Is it just from the two blue prints? I have just watched Iron man I to II and is not possible to get so much detail from it. Nice work, any update? (By the way, this is my first participation in the RPF.)
