SO YOU WANT TO MAKE/BUY A PREDATOR SUIT? READ THIS!!!!!!

Hello everyone I Just joined a couple of weeks ago and I'm still in awe of all of the information here. WIth there being so many aspects to the suit, I've found just reading and takiing notes for the last two weeks was a good place to start. I think like anything the prep work and planning can be key to a succesfull project and can save you $$. Patience is a virtue and I'm beginning to realize I will need all of it to finish this project. After experiencing the duct tape dummy exercise (not my favorite) I can already say I have sweat and blood into this . But with all of the info on here I think one can make or acquire the necessary items to make an exceptional unique Predator costume. Thanks for a great site.

I must say that i am a noob to this site and i am fine with that i ended up finding you all by looking for ways to make an outfit on youtube of you all at some of the cons you all have been to. i had no idea how to start an outfit but by looking on this site an reading about all of this i have to say that this is a great place to learn an i hope to make a half-way descent looking outfit within a couple of months to come an maybe see some of you all at the new cons in 2012.

Good information but no way in hell i can afford up to 3,000 for a costume. I'm a short man lol. I'm 5'5 and i have no idea where to get parts for cheap or already built ones. I wanna be able to have my own Predator costume but i really never expected high prices would be very taxing if you're gonna build one or buy one. I'm very disappointed really. I wish i can do something like this instead of buying pathetic fake Predator costumes that would make me look stupid lol.

If you know anyone or a website that has a good affordable range then hit me up please. Thanks!

Always keep an eye out on the marketplace here. You can find stuff for cheap here and there. I used one of the hutorials to make my feet. Less then perfect sure, but it works and wasnt that expensive. So many people have helped me on my journey to creating my suit and I couldnt be more great full. I have learned that this is a trial by error type of project if you have never done it before. Be careful on ebay, because you get a lot of recasted items there as I have recently learned. If you are curious about it, ask someone. I couldnt tell you if its a recast or not, but I know that there are people here that can. What I found also helps when trying to make a good suit, is buying pieces within stretched timelines. You have to be patient (which Im learning to be lol) if you want a good suit. All that matters in the end is that you are happy with what you make, or have made for you. No one here is going to make fun of your suit or dog you. They will give advice and help if you want it. As far as I am concerned personnally, all the suits here are amazing because people put time, effort and heart into them. I know how cheesy that sounds I promise, but that what makes a good hobby. Have fun with it and be proud of what you make!

Noob here! Thanks for this post, I plan on making the search function my number one resource. This will be the first time I'm attempting a project like this and I am super excited! I'm not really here for the Halloween crowd, this is more for my own personal obsession with the Predators! Thank you in advance for the shared experience and knowledge! Good hunting.

Study up on as much as you can before spending money. Research and exhaust all alternatives. And most importanly- BECOME the Predator!

I've been back and forth and reading and rereading posts. A noob yes.. a "damn noob".. no. As has been said..everyone starts out at the beginning at some point. I dont go asking questions all over the place. theres no need as most of the questions i have are answered in a post somewhere. This keeps my post count down and i'll post where i think is appropriate. I am a Predator fan. I have always been fascinated with it I am at college as a mature student. I am making a Predator costume. mask and scene settiing for my college show. This show is going to be on, on 1st May this year. Yes.. a few weeks away.

so as i note a few posts which say you cannot build a costume ect in three weeks which is of any worth, i sit in my living room surrounded by all my latex, Mr incredibles suit, foamies, paint tubs, drill, glue gun, and all the other bits and bobs I have bought or found and i politely inquire with the hope of no one coming back to laugh in my direction.... where should I start the thread so i can add pictures of my build as I progress? Thank you.

look in the market forum and you might find parts for the pred you want to get.Im a noob in uk,and as no one makes a full suit im after,will make myself.Cost so far is £800 ans expect total to be £1500/2000.If you want a great looking pred then lots of money will be needed.

just got the first layer of latex on my Mr Incredible outfit and its drying just now.. not saying its looking good at the moment but a few more will hopefully make all the difference. Think the arms are a bit too puffy and loose though.

I'm embarrased to say as long as I've been a memeber the only item I've sucessfully finished is the bio (Though I have made more then one). Not for lack of great Huntorials and helpful like minded individuals but time and money can not be produced from thin air (Especially for those of us working more then 10 hours a day and supporting a family).

Like the topic states you have to be willing to invest its either money or time, and some times its even both. The results though are the stuff legends are made of, even failures can be learned from. Every person has a different level of skill as well and their are enough people I think here that their should be something for everyones needs if they just use the search fuinction, or at the vary least ask for assistance in the right place. I've always found the people here patient and helpful.

We are a very helpful community, but please understand - it is next to impossible to make a Predator suit in time for Halloween when it is only a month away- unless you plan on buying a Rubies cheap-o version, or trying your hand at making your own suit from scratch using paper mache, foamies and a Mr Incredible suit.

Hats off to any newbie who can hold down a full time job and make even the "paper mache, foamies and a Mr Incredible suit" in a month!

I've been working on a making decent pepakura/resin/bondo bio mask for almost a month.

...speaking of, I've got some more sanding to do!

You have 370 days which seems like a long time but it will vanish so quickly it is incredible. I am on my third halloween since deciding to "suit up" and have 2013 as my reveal halloween. Start by reading everything you can on the lair. A lot of the questions you will want answered will have been asked before. There are several incredible huntorials from budget builds to no exspense spared. Spend the first week reading, make a list of what you want to do. P1, P2 AVP even a lost hunter? How tall are you? Do you want to have feet with lifts to gain some inches? I'm 6' myself so i think i can get away with maybe 3-4 inch lifts plus about 5-6 inches with the mask and bio bringing me to about 6'8"-6'9" which should work for me. Do you want to make it yourself? Do you have the funds to buy everything? If you can huy evetything there is still the time factor involved. Welcome to the lair, read, ask questions and good luck!

I looked around and read around and i must admit, its overwhelming. Some of these costumes are insane and the more I look the more jealous i get. I am 6 ft. I like the P2 and lifts for sure. I don't have the time due to my training schedule nor artistic ability to make it myself. I would like to buy one but don't know where to start looking. I found a link on this website but it was dead. Any suggestions?

And for the past halloween i decided to just buy the rubies one and the deluxe mask from amazon. I got it talored to me and added some modifications to it myself. (thanks to you all) I would have won first place, but ended partying because of the free drinks i got.... (Took soooo many pictures here in Korea, felt like a SUPERSTAR) Now im ready to upgrade to the full suite. As stated before I'm in Korea and will be PSCing to New Mexico, Holloman this January. I have a decent budget and ready to get the best suite made. Furthermore, I'm 6'2" 210lbs. Who is the best out there? Thanks fellow Predators for the help.
