So, who here has $150K for the Ecto 1?

I know - it's almost criminal.

What I don't understand is why, considering how much he loves Ghostbusters, Ackroyd
doesn't own it?.

It really isn't that much money. It only comes to £76,000 Uk which isn't beyond
the realm of mental bank loans.

Hmmmmm. :confused

It's just an inaccurate replica. George Barris had nothing to do with the original Ecto-1, much like most of the vehicles he claims creation of. The one super-famous car he did build, the 60's batmobile, was mostly a concept car that he detailed and added to. Even that one he claims to have designed the body of though... He's a liar and a fraud - the fact that this is being passed off as THE ecto-1 is criminal... You could build a much more accurate replica for 1/3 the money.

I live a few miles away from Volo Antique Car museum, although I haven't been there in a couple years. They have a bunch of old movie and TV cars. A Delorean from BTTF, the General Lee, The Mystery Machine, TV Batmobile, Policecar from Robocop, and a bunch of other ones. But, I'm sure things have changed in 2 years because I don't remember seeing the Ecto-1.

Is it me, or is Ghosbusters making a comback? Something GB keeps going around evey week. Cool.

I'm confused by the listing; is this a screen used car or a repro? At any rate it sounds like they have fiddled with it quite a bit. Still cool though.

It's a replica prop, not even the right coach...

Amen, Brother.

I used to work at Universal Studios Hollywood, and aparently he did do SOME work on refitting one of the DeLoreans used in BTTFIII, and ended up buy/getting one of the shells that was barely decorated on the exterior.

He later made this gawd-awful Frankenbarris version of the car, with such screen accurate details as rope lights and a halogen worklight housing on the rear instrument panel in place of a Mr. Fusion. Then he proudly stuck one of his Barris Kustom logos on it and called it his own.

He had it on display at the Peterson Automotive Museum here in Los Angeles.

Why, there's even a still of the DeLorean in the Twin/Lone Pine mall parking lot from BTTF I that was lovingly autographed by Mr. Barris that's currently available for purchase oneBay.

The auction description reads:

GEORGE BARRIS
" BACK TO THE FUTURE "
"Creator" of the DELOREAN " TIME MACHINE " ..

Meh...
