So, who else is working on a Crystal Skull?

I'd love to see Sideshow or another company take a crack at a licensed version...

I also noticed the "brain" inside the skull when I watched the movie today. Kind of a cool effect.

from the second page: The "ET" skull. This one doesnt have the separate jaw piece, but the Mitchell Hedges skull is the most widely known for the myth and legend the new story is based around. And the Mitchell Hedges skull is two pieces.

And by removable i meant its probably 2 pieces, probably attached, but probably 2 pieces, especially if its supposed to be a real skull.

I don't remember it being two pieces but then it has been 20 years since I touched it.

Clearly, it is not the design basis of the new Indy prop...just the story -vaguely.

I thought the Indy skull would be based on the MHS, but apparently it is an Alien based idea. They should have just taken the next step and made it a queen.

:lol

Here is a shot of a screen used skull from a Lucasfilm party.

Um, is it me or do I see circles in that plastic stuffing?? Bubble wrap?? Speaking of bubbles; see the bubbles in the plastic??

In other news:Which skull??! Apparently there are two screen used designs!

Since we're talking about alien skulls, I thought this would be appropriate.

Here's an pretty cool alien skull offered by Skulls Unlimited that I plan on adding to my collection in the future!:love

Been eyeing this for along time now. Gonna eventually be added to my skull collection.

No, that's the same skull, just from different angles:)

Ok then, please explain why the sizes and proportions are different?? :eek:lol

As it has already been mentioned there is both a 'heavy' and a 'light' version of the skull.

The question still stands: Which skull??

The extreme length of the skull contributes to this percieved difference in appearance. You can even see it in the movie, when John Hurt's toting it around.

Because the picture of the "two" skulls is the exact same skull only in different lighting and from different angles. You can even see the same lamp directly behind the skull in both picture.

The Mitchell-Hedges skull is definitely two pieces. I've seen a fair number of pictures of video of the MH skull. When they transport it, then have to put a piece of foam in the skull's mouth to prevent the two pieces from clacking together while it's being moved.

That picture, however, isn't the Mitchell-Hedges skull.. it's the one known as the British Museum skull, and it's carved in only one piece. It's also a fake.. made in Europe (most likely Germany) in the 19th century. It's no longer displayed.
