As it has already been mentioned there is both a 'heavy' and a 'light' version of the skull.

The Mitchell-Hedges skull is definitely two pieces. I've seen a fair number of pictures of video of the MH skull. When they transport it, then have to put a piece of foam in the skull's mouth to prevent the two pieces from clacking together while it's being moved.I don't remember it being two pieces but then it has been 20 years since I touched it.
