So I decided to be Taskmaster for Halloween

OK, so a little about my costuming background...there really is none aside from my walker and Jason Vorhees costumes for the past few years. Below is my walker, which is the same costume as my Jason except that I had my left arm inside the coveralls and a foam Jason mask that came with a Vorhees hockey jersey lol. This year I also made my wife a Freddy glove to wear with a generic fedora and an old Freddy sweater that I've had for years, glove also below.

This year, while at a Goodwill store, I came across a generic skull mask that inspired me. This year I would be one of 9yr old sons and mine favorite Marvel villains, Taskmaster!

My main inspiration was this cheap-o skull mask from Goodwill, the rest is either history or progress.

After working on the wife's Femme Freddy glove I decided that since Taskmaster is usually seen with a closed maw that I had to mod this mask to also be closed mouthed with my trusty exacto knife and a hot glue gun.

I then got busy with work, unfortunately, and left it for a few days whilst working on the wife's costume. But I did decide to paint the mask with a base coat of the same metallic silver that I used on her gloves blades before painting it white in hopes that it will make for a metallic white when finished. Also, the plastic doesn't seem to want to hold paint well either. .

Hopefully my trip to Goodwill and Wal-Mart tomorrow will yield me the material needed to make my hood, my pants and a usable shirt. Then I can start on the hood, shoulder pauldrins(sp?) and accessories.

Update!

My the Goodwill trip yielded most of what I needed to finish my costume.

I found a shirt, which I simply painted the buttons to make them look like they are copper,

and I found a curtain that was a thick canvas material that I will use for my hood. I will be cutting and sewing this into a hood but haven't decided if I want to add the cape which is seen in some iterations of Taskmaster.

I also added a few more coats of silver to the modded mask, I may leave it silver. My son, a huge Taskmaster fan from watching Ultimate Spiderman lol, thinks it looks "really cool" in silver. I'm interested in opinions on that please.

The main pieces left to finish are the hood, maybe a cape if I decide to go that route and the chest piece, bracers, shoulder pauldrons, shin guards and if there is time LEDs in the eyes. I will say now that this is a "My style/real world" version of Taskmaster as I'm not in shape enough to join the "Spandex crowd" lol.

Any comments, advice or criticism is welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Ever since I read his mini series, Taskmaster has been one of my favorite characters. I'm interested to see how your "real world" version will turn out.

Thanks guys! Thanks to work(stupid job) I wont be able to finish all of the armor pieces that I wanted to but I have the main bits almost done.

UPDATE:
So I went with a hood/cape combo, got it mostly stiched up last night. I just need to make a few adjustments to the neck/shoulder area because it keeps wanting to pull away from my shoulders and just doesn't look right. But progress is progress! I may just stich it to the shirt but I'm hesitant because of the weight of the hood fabric.

As I mentioned, life got in the way of even starting the armor pieces yet but I should be able to knock out at lest the chest/ab armor and maybe the bracers over the next 2 days. I have halloween off so I may just need to wake up early and paint in the basement lol.

Oh and I forgot to mention in my last post that I did score some pants that will work and a pair of black gloves. I'll be using a pair of my combat boots from my work uniform instead of buying a pair for this, I think they'll do just fine. I'll post pics once I get them uploaded, only new one is of the hood anyway. I'll snap more tonight once I sort out my issue.

Thanks for looking/reading/whatever!

So the last two nights I was a little busy between pumpkin carving

and taking my kid to trunk or treat.

So today was busy! I finished my hood and cape.

tried it on with the mask too.

I'm going to make a push tomorrow to try and get the armor and belt buckle finished in time for trick or treating! I gave them a coat of PVA tonight but they aren't quite dry yet. Hopefully tomorrow I really hope I can get them primed and painted. Oh and I used some paracord to make an extender for a belt my wife owns that looks like a bandoleer with bullets. No pic of that yet.

hopefully I'll have full costume pics tomorrow!

So, I managed to stay up a little late and get the armor sections primed! All that's left for tomorrow is to get the black paint on and attach them to the shirt.

Update for the 2-3 people who care lol, I got everything painted and realized that the shoulder paldrons didn't work out. I scrapped them and made some quick and dirty bracers out of them since the shirt and gloves didn't work as planned.

So that, turned into these:

excuse the on screen package, we were watching Bob's Burgers lol.

I did finish in time for trick or treating tonight, of course no one knew who I was lol. Everyone thought I was death or a Call of Duty thing lol.

The only other shot from tonight I have is one from my wife's crappy camera phone that turned out really blurry lol. But that gold thing poking out from behind my shoulder is a Wii sniper rifle that I painted to look realistic a while back. I strapped on since a merc without a weapon just seemed wrong.
