Snowtrooper Chest Questions

I was in LA for the second time for the SW Exhibit and I noticed this on the chest. This concerns the chest armor right under the three red squares, it looks like its a light grey painted area. There was also a light grey area smaller then the size of the t-bar, located right under the t-bar.

I think you're merely seeing shadows cast by the exibit lights.
