So I have '89 style bat armor from a vendor that doesn't feel like it was completely cured or mixed right (it arrived out of the box tacky to the touch). I ended up spraying it with Meltonin black to get rid of the tack and to try and even out the rough areas because the whole frigging thing shows the sanding marks from the original before it was molded (I don 't think he realized it needed a FINE sandpaper before molding). Anyway, the Meltonin sprayed on thick ended up cracking in some areas, so I stripped the whole thing down with acetone. I'm back down to the bare black urethane and I've noticed that the acetone has helped smooth down some of the sand marks.
So the question is, does anyone know of any other stripping material that will do a quicker job than acetone in smoothing and breaking down the surface of the urethane to get rid of the rest of the sand marks faster? It seems acetone would take a long time if I have to keep using and rubbing it.
Not talking to the vendor anymore... there is a lynch mob after him for undelivered stuff he's taken lots of money for so I'm on my own trying to figure this out and he's not going to exchange it.
