Voted best advert of the century, the fabulous robots from the Smash ad campaign. Always wanted my own robot to play with and might look into the animatronic side too...they were operated by 3 puppeteers using brake callipers and designed by John Webster who also created the Honey monster. Apparently made partly from car parts from the Ford Halewood motor company, they were built by Chris Wilkins and Sian Vickers. They do have an original prop in the Bradford media museum that I went to see but it is one of the later versions with 'hair' and stuff...they did a whole series of them with a body builder and even a cat.
So I've modelled the basic original robot to print...the original props were around 4' tall
