I always believed that the last scene would be something like Clark running down the street towards the camera (and action) while pulling open his shirt- with the last shot a close up of the S -and then cut to black.

I always expected it to be like the end of Animal House. Up beat, cheesey music and then the words flash on the screen to tell us what all the characters do when they grow up... after nine years, I think they're pretty grown. Tom Welling is older than I am.

I appreciated that the beginning of the season ender showed that by 2013 Clark's world was as we know it should be.

I hope for an ending that would show Clark would now be Superman then a year later have a movie with Welling in costume as Superman and Rosenbaum back as Luthor.

BUT I do think that Welling has grown to be and could be a very good Superman.

I think it might be because the costume looks more like body paint than a real costume. At least that's half the problem for me...

In the final episode Clark gets exposed to "ultraviolet" kryptonite and it changes him into a young Christopher Reeve. It's a nice dream at least...

I started watching Smallville when the series was young, but it ended up losing me, especially when they did the eppisode with the vampires in it. But I really like your idea for a possible ending, simple yet verry effective!!
