So, getting back to the caller lamp: Does anyone have a good analogue to the real lamp, or a paint trick I’m not aware of, to make a plastic turd look like a lightbulb?

That’s all that’s holding up my caller.

I think the ring is knurled brass, possibly blackened? And a clear bulb inside. I’m not above chucking up that piece of plastic and boring it out for a real bulb. If someone can tell me the original bulb identification (or good dimensions) I’ll get it sorted out.

The brass ring is one with the construction of the bulb. I have a photo of one pulled from my Linhof flash posted here, I'll see if I can't take some measurements for you when I make it home:

Do the bulbs exist? I’ll modify the base to accept the real bulb! That’s be sweet!

Also, Dark Energy Creations (dmachinist here on the RPF) makes a beautiful machined metal droid caller replica. Probably a long shot as they come as a complete kit, but you could see if he has any spares of just his bulb setup that you could fit to your replica. It's likely designed differently than the real deal, but fits the bill when mounted up.

I’ll try dark energy and see if he has spares (or info on them). Even a part number/bulb type would help. I have found odd bulbs before, when I have some sort of number.

Recently, it was for an old microscope. But I don’t have to match voltage here.
