Slimshadow's Iron Man Mk 46 thread! (foam build)

Hey all! So I know everyone's basically making one (just like with every Iron Man suit tbh!), but I still wanted to share my build of the Mk 46. It's hands down one of my favorite suits from the films (along with the 45, 43 and 6), so I decided: Why not, let's have some fun and all the LEDs will get more accustomed with working with that sort of stuff Plus, it's all about havin' fun anyways, and this suit most definitely is a fun build, so here we go! I'm using GordanUA's files for this.

So far I've build every piece of the suit, but most of the pieces still need to be painted! I just got the paint today, but I think it's pretty spot-on (despite being expensive car paint)

90% of the unpainted suit. Still need the gloves, finishing the crotch and the shoes.



An evolution of my work. My horrendous, warped 2013-2014 Iron Man Mk 42 helmet, my 2015 Battle worn Mk 6 helmet (in my profile pic) and now my Mk 46 ^^ I'm still having trouble warping foam and getting the curves just right, my seam work still isn't perfect, but it's smoother, cleaner and overall I think it looks a lot better!


I'll post updates! I don't like rushing, but I'd like to try to have the whole suit done by mid-October, which I think it pretty reasonable ^^

Suit is basically finished! I didn't get the opportunity to put all the LEDs in, only in the front of the torso/chest area (and in the eyes ) , so I guess I'll have to go back and fix that! Regardless, one of my cleanest builds yet in my opinion!

Wore the suit again for MCM Comic Con belgium! It's holding up surprisingly well. I need to find a better option for the LEDs though, I made these LED sets at the last minute from little light packs, but it's hugely impractical and they don't work too well. I'd love to get better lights, but I don't know where to get better LEDs.. If anyone has any tips on where to buy LEDs I'd really appreciate it! Maybe adafruit? But they have tons of choices, I really don't know which ones to get.. Anyways, hope you enjoy the few more pics of the suit, still need to finish some pieces, but at least now I knw it can be worn without too much hassle
