"SIMPLE" R-2 LED KIT / What's out there???

Don't need the whole dome to glow... (Unless there's a cheap kit that does so)

Just looking for an already made / 9V powered kit that has the red/blue switching LED for the front, and either a white or blue 'blinking/sequenced' light cluster for the two stacked 'lenses' just to the left of that (as you're looking at it)

Again - Not looking to custom order, or assemble and solder anything.

Just want to put in place -Add battery, and go from there

Does this exist???

THANKS!!!

Best bet would be to contact Hyperdyne or join the r2builders & see if anyone has maybe a PSI light kit they could sell. There was a duel PSI board run with the r2builders recently that had 2 sets of blinking lights for the front & back PSI (the red/blue front & yellow/green back). It would still be a little cut/soldering thou, they're not a full drop in... have to cut the tab boards off for the LED's, solder the LED's on and power wires from the main board to the tab boards.

I don't think there's been a run of the front Logic electronics in awhile, but they do pop up fully assembled or in kit form as a run or just people offloading an extra set every now and then.

Quick note. The ratio of cost to "out of the box-ness" is inverse. If you want something that's literally ready to plug into the dome and power up, it's going to be on the higher end of the cost spectrum. If you buy a box of components and a soldering iron, it's on the other.

There's a few solutions that are somewhere in between, but that particular game seems to be pretty polarized. I think Jim will sell his contraptions as kits, leaving the assembly to you. There's also some clever approaches that use re-purposed off the shelf products. The R2 builders group usually has a discussion about new approaches every month or two.

I personally strongly endorse hyperdine. Products are just amazing. Bright as all heck, and look great once put into your droid.

Good luck with your project! Got any pics you can show us???

Thanks, I have the direct link to the product - how did you get TO the link? I can find no way to get to the link from their homepage, so i can see if there's anything else of interest.

Thanks!

Rick

There is also:

www.hotcranium.com

It's run by Brian. He's a friend of Jim/Hyperdyne. Tell Brian Mark Cheng sent you from the RPF. I met Brian at C4 and also saw his R2 electronics. They are top notch. Everybody in the R2 builders room asked about his stuff.

this is the cheapest and most simple version I found and used, you can even change the two outer resistors and add very bright leds.
able to control led switching speeds and how long each led goes on.
