Hi Everyone,

I know there are alot of Amazing Spiderman threads on here but I just wanted to show some of my pictures of my costume that I have been putting together using my Taylor McManus Print.

I've been working with a friend of mine and also my mother in law who are excellent seamstresses. It's been a little challenging lining everything up, but with their help and everyone on this forum, we were able to put it all together. We are almost finished sewing together the entire suit and so far everything looks great.

Hopefully I can complete everything by this weekend so that I can start applying the Puff Paint to the web lines. Unfortunately, Halloween is right around the corner and I don't think i'll have time to do the honeycombing.

Pics to come...

While waiting for the print to arrive, I decided to work on the shoes. Here are some pics of the Asics Dirt Dog Shoes that I cut up and painted as seen on thorneyboy's thread.

Red Sharpie to color the bottoms red.

Here I used the blue sharpie method to color the sides. The color seems to look a little purple in person so I will try to paint it using a different method.

When painting the shoe, I masked off the sole with Duck Tape and sprayed a base coat of Silver first, then I masked around the toe and heel and sprayed the red.

After removing the padding in the heel, I realized that I probably should have bought the shoe 1 size or at least a half size smaller than my regular 9.5 size. There is a little too much space when trying them on with the costume. I may try to sell them if someone is interested (SOLD). That way I can buy my proper size.

Here's a pic of the legs put together with the shoes on before they were fully painted. I picked up a Toy face mask at Target to maybe use as a face shell with some modifications.

Re: Amazing Spiderman using Taylor McManus Print - (PIC HEAVY)

Here are some close up pics of the hands sewed. The hands were a little difficult to put together. I used a straight stitch on the hands and started by sewing the fingers first. Be sure that when you sew the hands between the fingers that you round it off instead of sewing to the point as designed where the fingers meet the palm. When you sew it to a point it ends up bunching up around the fingers. Below are some before and after pics.

Before - Sewn to design with point between fingers

After - sewing rounding off the lines between fingers where they meet at palm.

I still need to bring in the thumb a little so its more form fitting.
IMAG2420.jpg

After getting the fingers together, I then added the thumb. I started by closing off the top of the thub first. Then, from the bottom of the thumb, I worked my way up connecting it the the top of the palm. Then did the same with the back side of the thumb.

The pattern lines do not match up when sewing the palm by the pads. We had to line them up manually then sew it.

I plan to Puff Paint the webbing once sewing is completed. Hopefully it will cover where the seam is off a little on the wrist.

Here's some Pics of the sewn mask. I installed an invisible zipper in the back so that I can pull it forward over my head. Just waiting for my lenses from Joelai009. :D

Here's a pic with the invisible zipper open.

I haven't trimmed the excess material on the inside of the mask yet so it looks a little bunched up around some of the seams.

Re: Amazing Spiderman using Taylor McManus Print

Are you sewing it up?

I've had some help from my mother in law and a friend. For some parts its a 2 man job to get everything lined up right. I should hopefully have the suit completely sewn this weekend. We just need to sew the invisible zipper on the back (armpit to waist to armpit), attach the arms at the shoulders, close up the feet and do minor adjustments here and there on the suit. I'll post more pics as we go.

Re: SimmCity's Amazing Spiderman using Taylor McManus Print (Pic Heavy)

My seamstress friend told me about a cheap way to make a custom mannequin to my size so that I can apply my puff paint once the sewing is complete by using duct tape, plastic wrap, and newspaper. So today I purchased some duct tape at the DollarTree and tried it out...

Below are some pics of how it turned out. So far I just have the head completed. Let me know what you guys think.

Your suit's coming along real nicely! I've been thinking about getting that as a face shell too. I like the roundness of it. Let us know how it goes :)

Thanks! I'll be working on the suit all weekend so hopefully I will have some new pics soon. I'm also planning on putting together a web backpack. Not sure how yet though.

Wow this project is coming along very nice! Nice job with the toy face shield. If it works that is a really cheap fix.

Re: SimmCity's Amazing Spiderman using Taylor McManus Print (Pic Heavy)

looks great so far im extremely interested in the face shell and how you will do it, since im on a super budget now.

Re: SimmCity's Amazing Spiderman using Taylor McManus Print (Pic Heavy)

So originally when I decided to start this Spiderman project, I was planning on using my engraving machine to create the lens frames for my mask. To save time, I decided to go ahead and purchase Joelai's frames since they looked so great.

While I was waiting for my zippers to be sewn on the suit, I decided to go ahead and take a shot at making the frames. This is what I came up with... Let me know what you guys think.

Just might need to work on the size. Does anyone know what the actual size of the lenses should be?
