Sideshow life size Figrin D'an Bust

I've been a fan of Sideshow for a while, but I do have a bias towards this bust...

Those who know me, know I love cantina aliens, but there's an even bigger reason. My company did the prototype work for this Sideshow piece :)

We'll probably have some photos and info on our site after the official release date, but in the meantime, I would like to give credit to all of the talented people who helped create this:

Brian Lewis and I did the sculpture.

The molds were done by Rich Krusell of Gotham FX

The paint master was done by me

and the costume was done by KMD and the talented Kitty Herbert.

Brian and I have gotten to see and handle one of the original masks several times over at Bob Burns's place and it was very cool to be able to create a 1:1 bust that we felt captured the feel of the character, with the level of detail that Sideshow customers have come to expect.

Sideshow's a fantastic company (again, I'm biased! LOL), with a passion for these characters that rivals and sometimes surpasses our own. That made the project a dream to work on.

Brian and I both feel this new bust is a big leap forward from his old fan sculpt (which Bothanspy referenced) from back in the day... so keep your eyes peeled on Sideshow's site on May 10th and be sure to check out the photos!

best,
Tom

Another life size bust from sideshow. What do you guys think? I already have my RPF life-szie special on this character, so I'll pass on this one.

Agrees with Tom. It's seriously time to trade up. While I really loved that Band Member sculpt at the time, it's pretty dated and undersized compared to this one. I worked with what limited referenced I had at the time, but it was also my first sculpt.

This one, on the other hand, is damn near perfect in size, form, proportions and detail. As one of my favorite Star Wars aliens, I can finally say that this is the very first time this character has been faithfully recreated at any scale. He's actually a pretty tough one to capture correctly. I'm very critical of my own work, but this is one that I'm pretty happy with. I actually can't wait to get one for myself. The quest for my Cantina Band Member is over.

Working with Tom was a blast (despite the smell), and I learned a TON of new little sculpting tricks. He's a talented dude.

Anyway, hope you guys like it and I can't wait to reveal what's next.

:)
