Sides 4 and 5 of 6...

Studying the pictures I noticed the details are pretty pronounced so I am painting every little nook and cranny of glyph details with some black before I go start weathering it, but not so black nothing shows through... there's some chrome that peaks out of the bigger symbols subtly.

While the photos may show the black looking more rough in spots, it is because the reflections from the chroming that makes it appear like some of those lines are more sloppy than they actually are.

I can't wait to start adding the weathering part of this! One more side to go before I can start that though...

Thanks! I get a lot of black paint on my fingers every time since I paint over the spots wet and then wipe it off so that the only thing that remains is where the black paint went inside the nooks. It takes surprisingly long to do, but I'm happy with it so far. At first one side took over an hour and then as I went the process got shorter... more like a half hour per side. I hope to get to do some weathering tonight.

i still gotta finish weathering on 2 sides of mine, takes so long, sooo many layers ><;

The first stage of my weathering process. I want to use a sponge to get a different textured effect over what I have now. I am using acrylics and just taking different tones and dry brushing and then using a damp tissue and blotting it to give an uneven random look. I'm not quite at the point where I'm completely happy yet, but it's not a bad start:

Looking good man... Another thing that i use alot that seems to work pretty well is a stiff paintbrush. I just cut the bristles back about halfway. Works really well for an uneven stipple effect and for blending different shades together.

Well here's my cube! I used about 4-5 different colors and did a combination of sponge blotting, finger-smudging, brushing and a little improvisation. Itried to follow closely to the photographs of the reference sides. It is very hard to get this thing perfect because of all the tricky reflective angles the chrome has, but I'm satisfied with it:

Thanks for looking!

That turned out great man! I really like that first picture... Very convincing.

I actually just recently finished a new mold about a month ago... So far i have only pulled one cube out of it... If anyone is interested pm me. Ill be posting some pictures in another thread soon.

Just thought i would post a picture of a cube from the new mold i was talking about. This is the second cube pulled from it. I gave the mold a treatment of aluminum dust and this was the result... The cube came out great... All edges are straight and true and the detail is super crisp...With no priming and prepwork, this cube is basically 90% complete... I gave it a wash so you can see the detail... All thats left is some minor whethering and detailing... So, If you are interested, i just listed this cube in the junkyard...
