Anyone ever identified this prop? Looks like an old military Lensatic compass to me.

I think it is post WWII. The WWII style ones had a round ring instead of a bent one like Red's that keeps it closed...

However. Most of the WWII ones have a black face. I have one just like the one you pictured but I think the face is white. Like this one...

Here is one with a black face but it looks like it has yellow tick marks not white. (not sure how much it matters to ya). I also don't know what is printed on the cover. These are cheapos....

I got one very very close. Looks nearly identical. It is from WWII over 50 years old by a Japanese company. I will try to post pics tomorrow.

Here is mine. It is a NESCO brand lensatic compass, made in Japan dated from WWII. Looks really close to me on the components.

I believe my father has pilfered his old compass from me back into his possession. Sorry I couldn't get a pic for you. I'll keep trying to locate it or get a pic from him.

Its a very close match to the style used in The Goonies....both styles still popular and easily available today.
