Serenity Model Kits?

Last edited:
Actually, and Im sure not coincidentally, right after someone posted the Starship Modeler link a C and D was sent.
I dont think the two are unconnected but thats just my opinion as its not the first time its happened. Relatively certain someone here passed on info to the powers that be or told someone else who did the same.
PS...Im not talking about this thread but rather the QMX thread wherein the other model was mentioned.

Actually the reason he got the C&D was the Studio
nailed him on EVILBAY.. :unsure

It's where they " find "
lot's of people anymore...

He even mentions that over at SSM...

There's a large kit which was cheaper than that, but if we talk about it, flames will fly, the thread will get locked (and censored), and people will be banned. :D

36" HO scale Firefly no longer made.
This had a number 4 written on the inside; 4 of? a dozen, maybe?

Anyway, there are no meaningful Serenity kits available.
The 15" version was the best quality-to-cost version out there,
and it is gone.

Oof, Mike, tell me you didn't buy it?

I did;
and I re-sold it.
But not because of any dissatisfaction with it.
I'm just winding down my Firefly builds to get back to work on my,
hasn't-been-driven-in-15-years,
1981, 4-speed, T-top Trans Am.

I felt that it was what it was advertised as.
And with the only other option being a half-sized, 10-times as much, already built replica;
for those that could take the drama, (or avoid it), it was a satisfactory value.

Fair enough! The symmetry issues would have driven me insane, I'd have put up with the drama and grabbed one otherwise. But I agree that wasn't hidden...what you saw was what you got.

Good luck with the car!

This reminds me of some of the "discussions" over at
www.largescaleplanes.com

There are folks who look a the 1/32nd scale vacuform kits made by
Combat Models and ID Models and they go BANANAS over the soft details and shapes problems.
Then there are the guys who just build 'em.
Some better than others, some correcting more "inaccuracies" than others.

You wanna talk symmetry issues, try this bird on for size!

This is a Combat, 1/32nd scale, Me-410 vac which fell into limbo as I started building Firefly/Serenity props.

Well, my 'fair enough' was meant to be an olive branch. Obviously you feel the kit was value for money. That's fine with me.

But if you're gonna defend Combat Models, it's war!!! :lol

Where the heck is that face palm emoticon when you need it!

For what it's worth, as I understand it,
Jeff Herne is working with Jeff Roberts on some of the upcoming Combat vac kits.
Surely that should carry a little street cred?

Besides, I don't have the resources to carry war to Awwstrayleah,
and shirley not over a vac kit.
(I've gotten down-right testy over people bustin' on the Sidkit Mal pistol, tho"........)

Yeah, that'd be pretty cool, I'd love to see their stuff improve, I mean it's not like we don't need more 1/32 stuff. Right now it's just that after building a few Falcon and Dynavector vacforms, you get fussy about them, is all. :)

Jeff's Wingnut Albatros is gorgeous, btw, go look at his thread if you haven't already.

I would LOVE to have a Sidkit Mal pistol. :(
