Search Function Time Limit?

Is there a way to disable the time limit that exists in the search function? If you don't find what you're looking for on the first try, you've got to sit around twidding your thumbs for 10 seconds before you can try again. I can't see any reason for having this limit in place.

More than likely, this is a vBulletin setting that is controlled by the site administrator. It's annoying, I agree. It's there to prevent automated scripts and so on from placing unnecessary load on the database (thus preventing denial of service attacks).

In short: no, you cannot change this setting.

I don't want to remove it entirely as it would have an effect on performance but I have reduced it to 5 secs.

It would probably take that long to retype the search, so that might work.
