SeaQuest DSV V-PAL

I'm in the process of creating my own V-PAL. First prototype is printing as we speak.

I based my design on photos of the actual prop. (I'm not a pro and I know it's not perfect. Please be kind.)





The dream is to eventually wear a SeaQuest DSV costume to a Comic Con. (me = single dad on a budget)

I'm still working hard on the first prototype. I found these really cool videos by mr Eric Nagy, the lead prop maker.

I'm going to finish the prototype, and then do some modifications. Here's a preview.

Again, I'm not a 3D designer. It's just a hobby project.

As you can see in the 2 videos by on of the original prop makers there are slight differences between the units used in the show. I'm trying my best to design a 3D printable V-PAL.

The first prototype is finally done. Took me about 100 hours. It's not 100% accurate, but it's the best I can do.

The antenne will be made from metal.


I'm starting the print next week.

Well the design is ready. I started printing but my 3D printer broke.


I had tickets to meet Michael Ironside at a local con but he had to cancel his attendance.

With the printer broken and the GIGANTIC disappointment of not meeting Michael I stopped working on this project.
