SDS trial makes Yahoo! news

No bad bro. I would not have seen this unless you posted as I rarely visit the costuming forum.

Thanks Cenobyte, yeah, I hardly go there myself. I guess I thought our hobby making front page news on Yahoo!/Reuters was a good topic for "General" discussion.

I'm not sure why it was posted in that area either but thought i would let you know before we have 2 threads going on about the same thing, one SDS thread at a time is enough :lol:thumbsup

What did he do on Alien? A couple of the links say the monster.

If I was Giger, I would fly to England and kick him in the balls!

I thought Roger Dicken and Dan O'Bannon worked on the facehugger and chestburster.

This is a quote from FOX NEWS

"For his part, Ainsworth remained a designer and engineer and would later create a face-sucking monster for the "Alien" films. In 2004, however, he discovered one of the original helmets he had made in a cupboard in his home in Twickenham."

And here is the article:

I had email comms with him last year, and he came up with a translucent Alien suit that never made it to screen, at the time the rubber technology wasnt available and he made his own (rubber) up, but it had to be cooked to cure, which lead to technical difficulties, so for safety/deadline sake they went with the 'solid' suit we have all seen.

Don't believe everything you read in the papers I read in The Daily Record he made Tusken Raiders as well something AA clearly has never stated :)

Not sure if this is worth being kicked in the balls for :lol

Here is the Alien prototype AA made.

I'm pretty sure none of his Alien stuff ever made it to the screen - possibly the Alien dome but its never been substantiated.

I heard Nick Pemberton did the Tusken mask/helmet

Cheers

I love AA's Alien...that would look so horrific with drool, good, etc. and being all shiny from the dampness. Sort of like seeing a creature from the inside out.
