Screws and fixings

I'm looking for a little advice and help.
I'm looking for a larger set of the screws that are used in securing the back panel to the back of the Mark IX & X tricorders.

These are the screws with the brass housing that they screw into.

What is the brass part that the screw goes into called, it's not really a bolt.

I'm looking for a set of these but I need them to be larger with the screw heat about 5mm in diameter. If I could get them to be deeper, that would be helpful as I need these to secure a 3mm thick panel into a 10mm thick piece of acrylic sheet.

You need to look for Brass Threaded Inserts, you can get them in a variety of thread sizes and lengths

Trend Routing sells those.
They have them for wood and for hard plastics
For plastics, the hole size has to be either 8 mm or 9.5 mm, depending on whether you want M6 (Metric 6) or M8 screws to be mounted.
