Scratchbuilt Wipeout Feisar ship (Round Two)

Heres the bottom. I didn't want to over crowd it with too much stuff going on, so kept it simple. The bottom isn't quite as polished as the top, but close.

Very nice work.

I too have many fond memories of not blinking for three, or so, minutes as I flew around the Wipeout tracks.

Thanks all. And yes, blink while playing the game could mean a quick death.

...so started the painting. The blue nozzle was a little clogged and was spitting more than spraying, but I got it to look good enough.
I was a bit worried how the yellow would work with it. I hate how blue tape can sometimes bleed a little bit, or a lot. Had to do more yellow coats then I would have liked, some there is a bit of a edge line between the colors. I believe I can get it worked out.
So now the back part will be white, with blue wings and yellow tips. Also, in photoshop, tried a yellow stripe down the side of the nose and I like it.

Thinking I'll start working out the decals in photoshop...I just can't find my mouse....hate using a touch pad.

You can try to 'seal' the masking tape by applying Future to it after you put it on the model, but before you paint.. This does have the risk of the Future bleeding under the tape, but since it's clear, it should be less noticeable. Especially if you're going to finish the model with another gloss coat.

That could work. How do I even search for that. Typing future gives you all kinds of results.

"Future" was / is a floor polish. Then they called it 'Pledge with Future Shine.' Now I think it's just "Pledge Floor Care."

It's a self-leveling, high-gloss, air-drying, clear acrylic fluid, which was adopted by the scale modeling community for adding glossy finishes, sealing decals, applying washes, and tinting clear parts.

A search of your favorite scale modeling forum(s) should turn up plenty of examples of use, and maybe a tutorial or two. Here are a few results from a quick Google search:

Obviously, you will want to TEST THIS on some scrap plastic first, using the same primer, paint & tape, etc.

A Google search for "Future Floor" and "Scale Modeling" should turn up more relevant results.

Got more done. Still have more to do and need to clean up a few parts, like the top part above the cockpit. That part didn't come out so good.
Have gotten most all the decals made up. Some from the game, so I made up myself. I need to do a test print to make sure they are sized right.

Huh...I wonder who figured that out. Sounds pretty brilliant.

Car modelers! I think "Future" is now called 'Pledge Multi-Floor Finish' or something like that; it is made by SC Johnson.
Here is a link to an example on Amazon (not that you should order it through there necessarily...):
Pledge-Multi-Surface-Finish

This is looking really sweet, thanks for sharing your work.

Yes, very nice video to go with the thread. Never have seen that video before.
I'm really hoping that the new game, which can't be called Wipeout anymore will be really good.

Got the glass done, and what a pain it was to get just right. Part of the ship itself doesn't quite line up, between the nose and the back part above the seat. So I had to really reshape parts of the plastic "glass"....which is actually a notebook separator I cut up. I did use super glue, but very very little to not make a mess, then added the styrene frame to help cover the edges up...and it looks cool.

Heres 4 rockets and their holders that will be glued up underneath by the wings. These parts are so tiny, I kept gluing everything together...the tweezers, my fingers, the parts to the table, etc....was getting a bit frustrated.

Ok, so I'm not quite done yet. Still have to clean up the base, add a few more decals and glue on the rockets and window. Then, later on if I ever get around to buying the Future stuff, I'll do a good test to see how that works out. I also need to get white decal paper for a few of the decals, but the hobby store was out. Thats my biggest thing I'm waiting on.
But for now, here is a little of what I have done. My next update should be the finished piece.

I had a lot of difficulty finding future in places that I thought would have it i.e. walmart, lowes, etc. I wound up ordering it off Amazon and the very next day finding it for sale at my local grocery store by accident.

Thanks. I am so very happy with how this has turned out. My fiance is blown away at how good it looks. Two years ago when I started this with the posterboard, I could have never been able to do anything like this at that point. So definitely thanks to everyone on here who has helped out. Had I tried to do this without going online, this wouldn't look half as good.
Now if I can just get the white decal printing paper so I can finish this thing.....
