So I was invited to a Mortal Kombat photo shoot, I'm about half way done with my MKX Scorpion but there is no way I'll have it done in time. I'm making another quick Scorpion costume mainly based off his MK2 costume.

The deadline is October 4th so that leaves me with a bit under 2 weeks to make the costume. I have a scorpion costume I wore previously but I'm not happy with it, I plan on modifying it and adding some upgrades to make it photo shoot ready. Last night I made some good progress I'll start with the hood/mask

I bought some black spandex and mocked up some patterns for the hood and sewed them to get this.

For the mask I used my old scorpion mask that was just a paintball mask painted yellow and covered it in foam

Then I covered it in yellow spandex.
For the gauntlets i made a quick pattern out of foam and sewed fabric over the top, then added elastic bands.
For the belt I cut a piece of foam, covered it in black fabric. Repeated the process with a thinner piece of yellow fabric and sewed it on top.
This is everything so far

Next is the pants, bicep bands and touching up the tunic.

Costume finished! it only took 3 days and came in at 50 cents under budget.
The bicep bands were just spandex sewed on to elastic.

I then bought some paracord rope, braided it and attached it to the spear I already had.

Next I got started on the shin guards. I mocked up a pattern for the shin then I heated up some foam and bent it over my knee to get a dome shape. I covered both pieces in fabric and added elastic.

Then I ironed out my old tunic and hemmed some loose edges. As for the pants I bought some small sweatpants and hemmed the pockets shut to give it a ninja pants look. The black boots were a pair I already owned.
Here is everything

I was very happy with the way this turned out and even happier that it only took 3 days and will be ready for the photo shoot!
Now its time to get back on my MKX Scorpion costume.
