Scorpion Mc Helmet Build.

Hey guys! I just started my helmet build. There are some guys from Russia who make a predator helmet and its awesome but with a heavy price tag and a long wait I decided to build my own. My base is a snell approved scorpion exo 700 helmet and I'm already having issues. I have a lot of pics I'm using as reference but the shell is just the wrong size and shape to begin with so its a little distorted and I'm afraid it's going to be a bobble head. So here is my option. Finding a fiberglass p-1 bio that I can mold on the helmet then make a mold of the whole thing then hand lay a whole new fiberglass shell in one piece. I know this wont be as safe it's really going to be a conversation piece.

I'm leaning to the latter. Using a p-1 helmet and grafting it onto a shell and popping a mold. Is there anyone that makes a kit that you can recommend that wont mind me grafting changing a few things and molding it for a one off helmet.

Is there any kits that are dead on and not leaning a little? I'm a symmetry stickler ?

Ive been working with fiberglass almost 12 years now, im in the car culture, drift, drag, etc, and people keep asking me to do this helmet, so after awhile of pms, and inbox messages bothering, lol, i finally started to make my own too, no pics yet thou

Yours seems like a great start :)

I was given a helmet by a family member. After my success with the paintball helmet dreads, I too am shying away from the 1k price tag. We have a bike shop locally that I am looking at helmets. I will send pix of which ones may fit our needs better. Keep up the awesome work! MORE PIX!

Made007 I would love to see your progress! Put some pics up!

kilted craftsman check out a Simpson bandit it already looks like a predator bio without the top wings It is def a better base to start with but it's kinda pricey too!

Not a bad helmet for that price! I'm excited to see what we end up with!!! Now another question as I plan out plan b. the dreads... Thinking 3/4 inch surgical tubing with a heavy string dropped thru to secure the ends. I want it wiggly I don't want it stiff. That or silicone automotive tubing. I want it to last. Any body else got any ideas? It is going to have to stand up to 80+ mph

I have a dread mold :)

Ok just an update. I purchased a p-1 from Bonzrus today and with his permission I am going to just graft it onto a helmet and make a plug for a one off helmet. I am making a mold off of it with permission so that the fiberglass will be one continuous piece for strength not 2 pieces put together. I will document this with many many pictures and updates! Special thanks again to Steve (Bonzrus) for making this happen for me!

You are very welcome and thanks Rus! Glad you like it and I am glad I could be of service to you. Looks like it fits well from what I can tell. Now, lets see what you do with it. I am looking forward to seeing this take shape. I don't own a motorcycle but if I did I would definitely have to have one of these.  (y)

It fits pretty good. This isn't going to be as difficult as I had thought.. You know I got it today at work and everyone here wants one... They want to make Welding helmets out of them! There is an idea.

That would be soooo COOL! I never thought of that. I plan to one day purchase a wire feed MIG welder...oh the things I could do with one. Anyway, I will have to put one on my helmet when I get set up. Awesome idea!  (y)

Just an update. I have been busy at work but here is what I have adcomplished. It's getting there. I had to separate and make the eyes a little taller for vision but it still looks good. Let me know what you think.

That looks really good Rus! This is going to be one killer helmet. Very cool. The mod to the eyes looks like it worked out well.
