I just want to say something about the "recasting" thing. I think if someone get permission to reproduce a piece for sale (by properly compensating the original maker and that they have no desire to continue producing that piece), it's one thing. I absolutely despise people who purchase others work to simply mold it, and sell their own "copies". Artists are always getting screwed over, but forums like this do us a great service of letting us know if someone is blatantly copying our work. If you purchase one of my masks, I do not give permission for recasting, period. I put a lot of work in making masks for 20+ years now, I don't like working with middle men, I prefer to sell direct. The Deathstroke painted mask above is my sculpt work from a couple years ago, but was made at a former place of employment. But still, it is their work, and they should be credited as at least the designer/ sculptor/ "design by" by anyone using that form. Also, there is a chance that you (or one of your customers) will be confronted by someone at a show about it, and that is not something that is a positive for this community. We do these characters as fancreations to the best of our abilities & resources for cosplay or costume use, we are not doing this to get rich. So seeing someone else making money off of blatantlycopying and selling our art, it tends to burn us a little.
