San Diego Comic-Con 2014 SDCC

I will recommend checking out cornerstorecomics.com.

They have comic com exclusives on sale every year. Most of the time the prices are reasonable depending on the item and demand.

Seems like the exclusives are getting more and more ridiculous... Few years ago I could easily walk up and get anything. Now. You have to wait hours or get raffle tickets for days later. Definitely not worth the troubles anymore.

Comic con rarely check people badges at the door. I never seen it happen before and don't know anyone personally that got carded. The biggest problem you will run into is getting the badge. You need proper id to pick up the badge. They won't give it to you other wise.

Question for you guys who have been there before: how strict is comic con about the user of the ticket?

The reason I ask is this-- unfortunately, my girlfriend and I broke up recently and for now the plan was to try and find someone else to go, but her name is attached to hers and the service rep I spoke to said it was against policy to transfer it to someone else.

Is it impossible to bring someone else? Am I screwed out of that money?

You are basically screwed they are super strict with that. I had a member on here that was going to sell me his Saturday pass since he wasn't going, and he was going to drive 2 hours out to pick up my badge and give it to me. Since he has to be there and to show his ID to pick up the badge, but he backed up and is going now. So in the end you need that person to be there.

That depends on how the accounts were set up and if they actually check ID along with the ticket at the door. Here's what I mean...

Let's say you wanted to surprise your now former girlfriend and made a dummy email address for her. Using that dummy email for her you set up a dummy account through Comic-Con. You managed to get through the line of doom and won the right to buy tickets. You put in all her info into the dummy accounts you control because as I asid - it was a surprise - right? When it comes time to print tickets - you are the holder of all the account and password stuff, and you print up the tickets. Let's say that the name on the ticket is Suzie Sparkle. If your new girl - lets say Dana Barrett has a ticket that says Suzie Sparkle on it, and all they require is the printed ticket - then I'd guess you'd be good. However if they require ID, and then Dana turns into Zuul when they escort both of you out of the building and you'll be out another girlfriend.

That's the only way I can think of.

I've been going the last couple of years and they always check ID when picking up your badges. Once you have a badge in hand though then it can be transferred to anyone. They do not check ID when being admitted to the floor of the Convention Center. There's always a chance you could try to claim the badge using a fake ID, but I'm not sure what the success rate would be...

They do check sometimes. I know of a daughter that used the father's badge on a Sunday as she has done for years and they threatened to ban them both.
So if your a Harry, don't try to go in with a badge that says Mary.

The name on the badge has to match the ID of person picking it up. That part they are super, super strict about, and they get stricter every year. As of last year, they didn't even let my friends that have a booth pick up all of the badges they'd bought for people helping them out at the booth. Each person had to go get their own badge, with their ID.

And I've been going to SDCC since 2003, the last two years I've been spot checked at the door more than once, every single day of the con. Sometimes they just scan the badge to make sure it's real, a couple of times I had to show ID to match the name on the badge. Both times I got checked for ID were Saturday afternoons.

Hey folks,

I wanted to post a couple of announcements for the 2014 San Diego Comic-con International.

First, the Avengers Initiative will organize a group photo shoot on Friday, July 25. Judy S., Marvel's official photographer, will try to make it out.

Might be a little late in asking, but is there anyone with a room in the SD area that needs (or is willing) to split costs for a place to sleep nearby?

I just recently found out I have more connections than I thought I did and scored a 4day with preview night pass.

If anyone knows anyone that might be looking for a roomie or possibly knows someone that has a couch to crash on, I'm all ears.

If you contact them, you can get it switched to another person if you've got a replacement for the ticket. They are very understanding. Hope that helps

I called them and they said they wouldn't transfer the current tickets but would have allowed me to buy another set if I found someone.

An update from my post #18 on volunteering. For those who haven't read it, you should. I'll wait...

Enough waiting. Last week, they emailed the option for early volunteering. That means you could volunteer on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday for a few hours and if you were accepted - you would get 1 (one) free day pass for Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The catch was that you had to be accepted for a day before the convention, and they only needed a certain amount of people each day, and it was first come, first served. They said - IF - you were accepted, you would be notified by email before July 18. If you recieved no email - you were not accepted.

I signed up for Wednesday within an hour of getting the email.

On July 10th, I recieved an email with my regular volunteer info. It says where to show up and such for normal volunteering Thurs - Sun. No word on early volunteering.

Early today - July 16, I recieved an email about my request to do early volunteering. I have been accepted, and have an assignment for Wednesday.

So now I have my choice on what day I would like to go and just be a spectator, or lunatic in costume.

Hopefully for those who didn't get tickets this year and keep wondering how to get in, now you know that volunteering is the way to go.
