Salem's Lot (1978) props or memorabilia?

Hello all. :)

I've just recently gotten serious about getting information
on any Salem's Lot props, magazines, articles, posters,
memorabilia, statues, busts, or any other type of collectible
related to the 1978 mini-series.

It is far and away the most horrifying viewing experience I've
ever had, as I watched it at the age of 8 years old and it has
stuck with me for the remainder of my life. :eek

One day in the future, I plan on having a 1/4 scale Barlow
statue commmissioned, and possibly the Glick boys as well
in a diorama setting around a window frame, but that is far
in the future at this point, and I hope to find other items for
now for research or to add to (begin) my Salem's Lot collection.

I've recently gotten a Fangoria and Cinefantastique that have
feature articles and pictures from the filming, but I'd love to
know of any other items that may be available.

My sincere thanks for any information or pictures. :D

JS :)

PS - Here are some pictures, video, and info on it to jog any memories: :eek

Contact Mr. Barlow (Russ). I believe his website is www.fxwork.com. He made an awesome Barlow bust.

I contacted Russ previously, and I just did again - thank you for the idea.
I'm more looking for actual items from the movie, and old magazines with
articles and things of that nature though for right now. If anybody knows
of anything like that, I'd love to know. Thanks again for the information.

JS :)

I believe one of the old Aurora Dracula or Wolf Man models was used in this movie (just barely remember it). The kid (Lance Kerwin?) has it in his room. You can probably still find one somewhere.

It is Barlow that you seek ?? :)

Well aside from the model kits and masks in the kids room, I havent found any actual props or wardrobe from the film, trust me Ive been looking .

I did do a bust model kit years ago and a fullsize head of Mr B.

The bust is at www.squidzkitz.com and the head at www.fxwork.com

There are scattered magazines w articles done when it came out, offhand I might suggest finding Famous Monsters #162 w the Black Hole on the Cover , it has a good set of picts in there of the shoot.

I think Steven King " At the Movies " ? book has a section on Salems Lot, I think Barlow is on the cover too.

1/4 scale Barlow was on my chopping block for future sculpts and a James Mason that keys into the Barlow kit I did but lately my personal projects have taken a far back seat to paid jobs.

If you want to wear Barlow .. lol I did some shirts.... at
www.terrortees.com
Happy Vampire hunting ..

But dont hurt the Barlow :)

Thank you very much for the information Mr. Barlow.

I've just ordered the "Behind the Movies" book you mentioned.

I'll get the "Famous Monsters #162" very soon as well. I just
got the Cinefantastique I ordered, and it has a great article
with several interviews and pictures, plus Mr. Barlow and the
rest of the main cast on the cover. It looks absolutely great.

Once my Fangoria #4 gets here, I'll have another great
magazine with Salem's Lot information and pictures hopefully.

I just missed out on an out of production Barlow kit that
is a statue, and I hope to find one in the future, even though
the quality isn't exactly what I'm looking for. It is still Barlow
though, and I'd really like to have one in my collection.

I'm kicking myself quite a bit for missing that fully painted one. :unsure

I'd love to find any posters of Mr. Barlow or either of the Glick
Boys at the window - imagine pasting that up behind a door, or
outside of a window for when somebody raises the curtains. :love :eek :cry

Thanks again for any and all information - I appreciate it very much.

Thanks very much for the info RM. :thumbsup
It is really neat to see pictures of the filming location,
and your comparison shots from the film to the present
day buildings really helps me pinpoint everything.
I'll be bookmarking your site for reference.

I got my Fangoria shown above today.
OK, but the Cinefantastique is far better for in-depth
interviews, longer article, and many better pictures.

Thanks again RM.

JS :)

PS - Funky Trees. :confused :lol

Bumping just to see if anybody has any new info regarding Salem's Lot
props, memorabilia, posters, articles, magazines, etc......

Thanks for any info!

Hello all! :)

I've just recently gotten serious about getting information
on any Salem's Lot props, magazines, articles, posters,
memorabilia, statues, busts, or any other type of collectible
related to the 1978 mini-series.

:confused It was a mini- series. I guess that would explain the lack of too much gore. I always thought the first Stephen King miniseries was "IT." Well you learn something new every day.

Re: Salem's Lot (1978) props or memorabilia?

I loved the original series, i to saw it as a kid, frightened the life out of me!, i've allways wanted to sculpt a lifesize barlow, maybe i'll get to it one of these days.
Be interesting to see any pics of the makeup you might have

I just put pictures of Reggie's Barlow teeth in an album here. I hope you can access it. Just click on my name and look for the album

Re: Salem's Lot (1978) props or memorabilia?

Cool!, did you scan that makeup pic yet?, i'd love to have a go at sculpting a lifesize barlow bust, need to see what pics are out there
