I think that the ring section is just not pressed in all the way. I'd unscrew it, pop them apart and then press back together.

This is correct.
Mine came that way as well. It's sort of "snaps" into place. It's totally fine, so you can rest easy

OK, I thought the emitter was one piece but it looks like it is a few pieces.

Yep, that was it. The rod was ok.
I pulled the emiiter apart and re-assembled it back together and straightened it all out. It's good now.
Love it! :thumbsup

Mine was like that too. I had to hit it with a hammer to straighten it.
