Round2 Acquires Star Wars License

I designed the cockpit glass to be optional. You can of course do whatever you want for the interior. While I'm sure there are many people here on this site who would also be interested in recreating the filming model, that likely doesn't represent the broader general market for a kit like this.
Brilliant about the glass star-art!

Shame, an alternative pilot figure (at probably slightly different scale as the supplied TIE pilot) & a simple bar going through the centre of the cockpit to simulate the armature would be a small addition to please both types of modellers, the general & replica prop guys

Same. I will 100% be making the cockpit filming model accurate to go alongside my PG Falcon filming model version. Jaitea, if you go that route, one of us should start a research and 3D file thread.

Yes, (actually I was thinking of your fantastic PG Falcon cockpit when I wrote that post),...shouldn't be too hard, I know some 3d modellers who maybe could help

I wouldn't expect a model company to offer a kit with the mock filming model interior. That's a niche of a niche of a niche. For me, it's just a fun way to modify a kit to look exactly (or as close as possible) to what appears on screen or in publicity stills rather than what the "real" ship would be. It's the closest I'll ever come to owning or be able to handle an authentic ILM prop. Plus at this point in my modeling career I like my builds tell a story. When people look at my PG Falcon, we start a conversation about ILM's original cockpit, where the grab hold holes are, or where the ILMers each signed the original model (because I added those too). For me its like the French building a replica of the Lascaux caves so that people can appreciate ancient cave paintings up close without having access or endangering the real thing.

Very nice. Would have been nice if there was a better base, but they are very fond of their dome bases.

They also showed off the box for the TIE re-release, recently:

It has the fuselage from the regular TIE now, Crest caps and all. ;)

Round 2 posted pics of the Tie Kit on their facebook. Looks pretty good from the pics. Hopefully its released soon.
Saved you some clicks.

Beautimous. Loving the interior and hoping to heck they do a 1:72 now that Bandai seems to be backing off. I want that floor, as well as the "pokey things" flanking the viewport that are missing from all the previous kits in any scale.

The pilot detail looks a little soft as does some of the interior. The sharp detail on the imperial emblem decal underlines that.

Been looking forward to this one! I'm interested in how the pylons attach to the wings and whether it would be possible to convert it to a Tie Interceptor?

I agree, the figure looks pretty bad, one I'll definitely replace. I also think i'd do some 3D printed stuff to go inside the cockpit an make it look better.

They haven't done anything on any Star Wars ships yet, but it's possible.

I really do hope so, I am quite rubbish at painting and assembling models, so if they did do pre-built replicas of the new studio scale Star Wars ships as they did with the Eagles from Space 1999, I will be first in line to buy them!

You may want to consider commissioning a member from RPF close to you, to build this for you. I wouldn't hold your breath on a pre-built being released from Round2.

I think it would be best if you chose someone that is local to you. This way you won't have to worry about shipping or damage via shipping. I'm not certain, but I think you can post a message in the Want to Buy forum. I can't recommend anybody offhand, but perhaps someone reading this would send you a PM, if they knew where you were located. There is a lot of talent here and you would be able to judge the member's work by what they post on here.

This looks really nice. It looks like the ‘koolshade’ is separate parts so painting and building this guy should be a breeze. I have a hero SS but I think he may be getting smaller friend. Perhaps with a red pentagon….hmmm.

I am based in London, U.K.

Once the kit is ready to be released via pre-order I will definitely take up that offer.

Thank-you so much for all the advice, it is very appreciated.
