ROTJ Vader light saber

Re: ROTJ Vader light saber, NEW PICS see last post!

I've never had a real bubble strip - how thin are they? I'm assuming from the pics I see here that they included the back circuit board thingy because the bubble strip itself was too thin to be held by the clamp, yes? Also, are the two piece attached inside the calculator? Or does the bubble strip come off freely once the casing is opened?

The strip has little prongs that go through a hole, adn are melted to the card. The strip is thicker than a penny.

ah - yeah, the strip looks pretty thick actually... anybody here have a genuine MPP and a genuine bubble strip? How did they fit togther? From that side view- it doesnt seem like the ciruit board would make much difference in it "fitting" in the clamp or not...

The bubble strips have a kind of border around them that needs grinding off. Once that is ground off it is alot thinner.

In the absence of the correct blue wire I found that the Humbrol paint used on the Stormtrooper costume is a very close match.

Re: ROTJ Vader light saber, NEW PICS see last post!

I think the color of that wire should be more of a sky blue or 'periwinkle' color.

Here's a pic of my ESB version from SWP.

Any word on whether this casino museum in PA is open yet or not? The website doesn't mention it. It's only two hours from me.

This is like in 1990 when they found a Caravaggio, lost for 200 years, hanging in a dining room in Dublin!

Well my Exactra circuit board has a number 5 on it....... on the light part of the board (perhaps where the mylar tape under the bubble strip myth came from ?)

And it's really thin, it would probably fit in the clamp just fine.

Guess I'll have to get my hobby-hand saw out and working.....:love

I cant believe this thread gathered dust for nearly a year.
My brain nearly melted with all of this additional "knowledge":lol

Re: ROTJ Vader light saber, NEW PICS see last post!

I just sent a PM to yodaman, asking for this thread to be archived.

My apologies for necro-posting, via that "grip template" thread for the stunt, I ended up here again. (Still an awesome thread) and I never noticed that this was most likely a bladed stunt for ESB too. Is there a picture of a set screw on the body?

judging by the black flecks of paint on some of the parts up top, was the shroud repainted back before ESB? That's looks like a REALLY smooth finish for being factory wrinkled. Maybe I'm seeing things
