Limited Run ROTJ Jabba's Palace Guard Blaster DL-18 Parts - Spares Available!

Very nice! :)

My new switch for the Milling machine arrived today and installed without a problem, so I'm back in business. :)
If everything runs smoothly, I should have the scope and mount completed this weekend and cast some time next week. Stay tuned. :)

Finishing off the scope turned out to be more work than I had anticipated. I just finished putting in another hour at my lathe.
It's still a little rough for photos, but I think one more hour working on it tomorrow should do it.

I wouldn't mind a resin scope and mount.

Can I see an updated shot of the side plates? The plates I see on the first page don't look quite right to me. It looks like the bigger plate is missing a step down at the front, and the top back of the lower plate doesn't look so rounded on the original prop?

And now for the moment I know so many of you have been waiting for....:D

In case of shrinkage, I've added a "keyhole" on one side of the mount so there's no need for filing the hole.

I was going to counter sink both holes, but I wasn't sure exactly how the scope should be attached to the mount.
It's possible to drill a couple of holes straight through the scope and then cover the holes with an insert or sorts.

If most everyone is happy with the parts, I'll start molding these next week.

Scope and mount both look really nice, good job!

I'd think that 2 countersunk screws from the bottom of the mount into the bottom of the scope would hold it in place.
This would work for both metal and resin versions, insuring it won't fly off.

Can you work on something like that?

I could but then how would the mount/scope attach to the gun?

Molding will begin tonight. I should have some pulls ready early next week. Stay tuned. :)

Good point!

I for one don't mind using glue, since that's most likely what was used on the original.

I suppose you could maybe drill some holes in the underside of the scope that are keyed for some screw heads (like things that mount on the wall) that would sit proud of the mount, that way there's still a form of mechanical connection?

The scope and mount were screwed on. Through the top of the scope, through the mount into the holes on the RO72. The screw heads were sunk down to level of the scope top.

I was not aware of that. If that's the case, then I'd rather do that!

By the reference pics I've seen there's still residue left on top of the scope after they made molds of them, in the screw holes that is. I'm pretty confident that's how it was attached.

Can you please post some of those photos?
I haven't seen photos of the top of the blaster.

It's the easiest solution so it makes sense.

If not screws all the way thru, can we get 2 alignment posts from one part into the other which will allow us to cement them together more easily?

I can see the two bolts at the top of the scope in Petter's blaster in the photo above.

Unfortunately, I can't find a reference photo of the top of the real scope, but two, long bolts going straight through the scope and mount would definitely do it.

Waiting list updated.

Today I picked up some longer, M3 bolts for all the scopes so those are ready.
I am still planning on doing the scope and mount pulls this week. For those of you who have already pre-paid for your parts, I will be shipping those out with the scopes/mounts first and then will start working on down the list.

I also wanted to thank everyone who helped out with this run. :)

Put me on the list for a resin scope.

Thanks

Waiting list updated. Resin parts prices adjusted.

I just finished cleaning up the new molds and they look great. I've poured the first resin and will do the pulls in a couple of days.
So far so good. :)

I did a pull this morning and the scope/mount came out great!
I'm not seeing any shrinkage, so we're in good shape as far as mounting these to the pistols.

I can now start taking orders. Please see my original post for prices on all the parts.
The "reinforced" resin scope has a brad embedded within the "point" to avoid breakage.

If there are any questions on prices, shipping, etc. please feel free to send me a pm or email. :)

I have a spare set of aluminum side parts now available.

I also have a resin scope with a missing "tip", so if you're going for "screen accurate", this might be the one for you. :)
If you're interested in either of these parts, just send me a pm or email. :)

Waiting list updated.

The resin scope with the missing tip is sold. I still have an extra set of aluminum side parts available. :)
