ROTJ Force Pike - brains needed

Someone I know is trying to figure out what was used on the actual ROTJ force pike props. Any ideas?

The gold spiky thing in the picture below:

I know this is a found item, but I don't know for sure what it is. The twist to the rows of spikes implies certain things, but I don't know exactly what. I've had suggestions for everything from a large-bore thread tap to a rock drill bit. If anyone on here recognizes this piece, or knows someone who might and would be nice enough to show them, I would appreciate it tremendously

Don't be too sure it's a found item, or at least as it was found. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a simple cog or spool of something cut down for effect. By ROTJ there was more custom work being done in terms of props.

Suggest looking into the model world.

Boushh and Biker Scouts were both in ROTJ. They both had detailed parts that were pulled from model kits.

Just an Idea.....

Don't get many metal model kits though do you certainly not that scale.
Looks like a drill bit with the way the vertical channels are cut but it could be something else.
And like Jax said it could just be something chopped down on a lathe.

From Weapon part needs identifying:
The whole thing from the cone shaped tip to the "teeth" looks like a milling cutter. The cone is used to mount it into the mill. The thread at the small end of the cone is used to pull the cutter into spindle of the mill. There's a spanner flat at the larger end of the cone to prevent the spindle and cutter from turning when changing the cutter. The teeth are arrange in a helical way to reduce vibrations during the milling process. From the shape of the teeth it could be a special cutter to create large diameter threads.

Cheers,
Stefan
