ROTJ as it should have been...

Okay. This has been bouncing around in my head for a while. Remember the conversation near the end of ROTJ where Luke confesses that Leia is his sister? Paraphrased it goes something like this:


Leia: "You don't have to confront him."

Luke: "Ya I do, he's my dad."

Leia: "Ick."

Luke: "Yep. The force is strong in my family. You're my sister."

Leia: "Somehow I always knew it."


That has *ALWAYS* bugged the hell out of me as it seems to ignore the elephant in the room. Should have been something more like this:


Leia: "You don't have to confront him."

Luke: "Ya I do, he's my dad."

Leia: "Ick."

Luke: "Yep. The force is strong in my family. You're my sister."

Leia: "WTF!?!?! DARTH VADER IS MY DAD!?!?!"

Luke: "Ya, calm dow..."

Leia: "OMFG! DARTH VADER IS MY DAD!"

Luke: "Really Leia it isn't that ba..."

Leia: "ISN'T THAT BAD? HE ****ING TORTURED ME!"

Luke: "Well there is that."

Leia: "Wait, did you know this when we kissed on Hoth? You ****ing PERV!"

Luke: "No, wait!"

Leia then stomps off and never talks to Luke again.


Ah. I feel better now.

Well... there is that. And yes... that's one of the weakest scenes in RotJ as it completely neuters Leia's character.
