Rose Dawson Drawing - Titanic

Does anyone know how I can find the correct dimensions for the paper drawing?
I've been surfing around to find it but it seems the web is clouded with talk about one of the actual drawings (I believe there were three) that was hand drawn by James Cameron himself being auctioned off.

I've been a pencil artist for probably 30+ years now and I believe I can draw an exact replica of it if I can find out the exact size of the paper used. I've been sand baggin around here long enough to know some of you are able to get accurate dimensions from screenshots of the movies.

If we can get that info, I'll make a go of it and start a thread to show the progress.

Thanks in advance.

Wow! With skills like those, you should do some of the sketches from Lecter's cell (Silence of the Lambs)! Especially the "Clarice holding the lamb" one! :)

Thanks.
That's another great suggestion. It would be tough to make an exact replica but I'd give it a try. Maybe after Rose.

Sgt Fang is right. The sketches in Silence of the Lambs would be awesome. I would love to see the church. Good luck with your Rose drawing!!

And so it begins.

You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two when done.
Well, that's the plan anyway. We'll see how it goes.

I graphed it out to get as close to original as possible. Half inch squares on the original and one inch on the drawing. I quartered those down in the area of her face to narrow down the detail even more there.

This is just a rough outline to guide the drawing after the graph is erased. When this is all shaded and clean, it should look pretty awesome.

Wow! Impressive. This is a great idea. Look forward to seeing the completed sketch.

Thank you for the very kind compliments. I'm no more than a human copy machine. It's not half as impressive as the other work on these forums but it's all I have to contribute. I can sculpt as well but I haven't done it in years.

Here's where I'm at.

The outline is done.

And the grid has been removed.

Now the real drawing begins.
My days off are ending but I'll work on it and update here when I can.

Thanks again.

Thanks.
Just got back from a Vegas trip but I'll be making the final push to get this done sometime in the next week or so.

I'm going to try Dr. Lecter's Starling/lamb drawing next. I'm having trouble finding the reference photo for Jodie Foster in it though. Judging by her hair, I'm guessing the artist used a still from The Accused but I just can't find it yet and I don't have that movie.

If my detective work is accurate, I believe the artist who drew either some or all of Lecter's sketches may be a woman by the name of Paula Payne. She has two credits in Lambs: one for "Stand-by Scenic Artist;" and a second for "Special Drawings." Her resume is posted on Spoke and it includes Lambs and other films she has worked on. Her email, phone number and address are included in it as well. The email address and physical location (Alaska) definitely match up with her photo posted on IMDB. Take a look at it all and you'll see what I mean. :lol

Dreamcrusher, maybe you could reach out to her and see what she knows and how receptive she'd be to providing some guidance?

She could prove to be the best source of information on these drawings. Or, she could be like our resident Necronomicon Nazi and be a real pain about it all. :lol

I found a couple of pix that might help. A much larger version of the drawing itself and a headshot from the Accused. Is this the one you are thinking of?

Thanks mrsmartypants.
Yeah, I've attempted to contact Paula Payne twice before about the drawings. I used the email on her resume on IMDB but no answer as of yet. I haven't looked at Spoke.
As far as the reference photo, I think whitehammer will be able to find what I'm looking for in the movie. I'm sure the drawing was done from a still in The Accused. Even if he doesn't find the exact moment, I'm sure he could find something pretty close and I think that movie is going to be our best bet (approximate age, hairstyle, facial expression). The rest I could get off the frame of the drawing that you posted and get it pretty close to perfect.

I was just looking at her resume again and she did indeed do the Lecter drawings:

"1990
The Silence of the Lambs, Jonathan Demme, director, Orion Pictures
On Set Scenic/Dr. Lechter’s Drawings"
