"Roooosebuuud..." Pics needed

Gone but not forgotten.
Hey, I'm trying to find some proppy things for my buddy Bill to make, but he's more geared toward woodworking that resin slinging, so I suggested Rosebud from "Citzen Kane" to start off with.

I used to have some great pics of the sled a few years ago, but that was a couple dead hard drives ago.

Can anyone hook him up with some good reference shots?

Thanks!

How are these?

If he does a run, remember me:D

Hell yeah! You're officially "The MAN"! Those are the shots I used to have! Thanks Again! :):thumbsup

That'll be enough for me to help him work up a set of blueprints/ plans, do we know if that damage in the pics was originally there or from age?

Also, anyone have any guesses at dimenisons?

-Sarge

My pleasure :)

As to the damage, my guess would be that the split is probably due to the age of the actual piece.

Spoiler Alert :D

Hey, you never know who's seen Kane and who hasn't...

C/U from the end of the film. no big split here when it's tossed on the fire.

I'd give it normal wear 'n' tear weathering, but I wouldn't beat it up too much.

The approximate dimensions were listed in an auction catalog, which was the source of those photos.

Oh, and while I don't think they're on the one pictured from the auction, if you refer to the b/w still of the young Kane and the sled, it has metal slats that are on the runners to help the sled slide thru the show.

Here's a sample from our old friend, eBay:

Yeah, I noticed those a little while ago. I'll have to hit Lowes and see what they have in the way of metal strip material. On the sled in the auction, they look like they're just nailed on w/ little brads.

Anyone know where to get custom furniture decals made?

Well, if I were making one...or a few...I'd just make a stencil for the various elements (letters. rosebud, flowers) and hand-paint the details, just like they probably made the originals. It would be easier to make the weathering more realistic.
That's IF I had an unfinished sled in my possession :angel

Be sure to let us know if he's interested in cutting out a few of these while he at it :)

I will, I was talking to him last night about putting finished ones on eBay for the really big bux, but also, just doing unfinished kits for you guys here for a lot less. :cool

Bill should have a chance to get going on this in the next week or so... :)

Hey guys! I just had a couple of Rosebud sleds made for me and so I wanted to add a post to this thread to acknowledge that a lot of the source info that I acquired, (including measurements and dimensions), was obtained here. (You can find the pictures and descriptions in this thread beginning in Post #134.) http://www.therpf.com/f9/my-prop-collection-new-addition-s-superman-80790/index6.html#post2094296 Thank-you to all who contributed for the inspiration and for sharing all of your photos and information with the rest of us! - Adam

I just noticed this really cool RKO Studios promotional black & white photo of Rosebud for sale on eBay today. I've never seen it before, so I thought that I'd go ahead and post it here in case anyone else was interested in it. (You can never have too many photos or reference materials around after all.) :)

I was asked by a fellow RPF'er about the measurements that I used to have my Rosebud sled built, so I decided to go ahead and post the diagram on here that was used, just in case anyone else might need it later on down the road. (This one's for you, Skip.) ;):thumbsup

just bought that pic! Thanks, again, Adam, for the measurements. YOU ROCK!

No problem man. I hope that you have great success building one yourself. (And I'm really glad that you bought that picture! I think it's good that an RPF member actually got it.) Good luck Skip!
