Re: Romeo + Juliet Dagger/Wanted Pistol Project

Cool build :)

Here's my dissembled and re-painted HFC 'compact 1911' airsoft. You can still see the the crappy blue plastic on the inside of the slide:

Back together and finished up. The mag base consists of a resin cast Taurus mag base along with the laser cut crest-plate. The grips were modded with the circular detail present on the P-13 and gold painted slot screws, and the para-ordinance marking were added using clear vinyl, as with the crest.

Re: Romeo + Juliet Dagger/Wanted Pistol Project

That turned out pretty darn good!

Re: Romeo + Juliet Dagger/Wanted Pistol Project

Those are so sweet. The guns and cars from that movie were some of the coolest customs I've seen.

Some WIP on the Dagger:

Scratch-built brass compensator with ammo clip + inert 9mm FMJ rounds

Mocked up with with the pistol.

Re: Romeo + Juliet Dagger/Wanted Pistol Project

Oh man, great work so far! I first attempted "Romeo + Juliet" guns when I was 14 and it was a simple paint-up with a compensator made out of Super Sculpey and a marker cap (I was working on Tybalt's)...but even now, I couldn't conceive of someone giving Mercutio's dagger a go. In fact, you may be the very first person on the Internet to give it a shot! Keep it rolling, sir. I'll be watching this thread with great interest.

man that looks cool I'm a hobby gunsmith. and was looking into doing a real working version of this. thanks for adding some kick to my fire.

Re: Romeo + Juliet Dagger/Wanted Pistol Project

Wherefore art thou, update?

Ahem....

I have finished Mercutio's Dagger and Tybalt's Rapier :love

I kinda cheated with the Dagger. The original prop has many sections milled out of the frame of the gun. Since my KSC Taurus is transparent, the only actual cut-outs I made were on the grips. All the other 'windows' were masked, then the whole thing sprayed silver.

I'd love to make one of these using the metal gun I used for the Rapier, but I don't have the tools to cut the windows, I don't think the Dremel is going to hack it.

The mag plates on both these guns were painted with metallic pearl, which I think is an improvement on the straight white I used on Romeo's Para-Ordinance.

All of the Taurus' also have a scratch-built 'riser' on the bottom of the mag that raises the crest plates at an angle to the bottom of the magazine. On the Dagger, this is painted gold, on the other pistols, it's black.

Anyway, pics:

The Rapier is an all-metal Beretta replica, so it has a nice weight.

The whole thing was dissembled, the slide is unfortunately in two halves with, with the barrel moulded as part of it, but hey, it's a cheapy!

I used Nitro-Mors to strip the icky orange paint, not fun, but leaves you with nice, bare aluminium. I polished up the frame with wire wool, and sprayed the slide silver to get a two-tone between the top and bottom. I used a black wash to get the engraved Rapier logo high-lighted.

The extended barrel and rod are brass and aluminium pipe, the compensator is resin from a re-sculpt of the compensator from the HFC Beretta.

Finished up. I love this gun :):

Next I will be attempting Benvolio's Sword 9mm, which could be tricky :)

Re: Romeo + Juliet /Wanted Pistol Project - Big update 26/2

nice work, but I think you need to be a bit more careful with that dremel

and whatever putty you're using

Re: Romeo + Juliet /Wanted Pistol Project - Big update 26/2

Thanks for pointing out my sloppy workmanship :rolleyes

The cutouts on the handle of the Dagger are not as smooth as I would have liked. Cutting plastic with a dremel is not easy since it melts as you cut it. So I'm working with a hacksaw, some cheap placky airsofts and a bit of enthusiasm and ambition on a project nobody else has even attempted no matter how good their equipment or base pieces.

Maybe I could mail them to you for a better finishing job?

hey, it was not meant as a personal attack. Just some pointers if you were thinking about doing more

Re: Romeo + Juliet /Wanted Pistol Project - Big update 26/2

Actually, you're right. I rushed the lanyard part on the Beretta because I wanted to get these done by the end of the weekend.

It does look kinda crappy, and I'm going to replace it with a section of aluminium tube.
The fault on the bottom of the grip I hadn't even noticed till you pointed it out on the photo. It's bareley visible in normal light.

I've actually had an offer from a member of another forum to get a metal framed Beretta milled out for the Dagger which would be fantastic...

As with anything, you learn by your mistakes. Right now I can't afford to replace anything I mess up :(
