Rogue One Vader costume

Definitely bothered me the way everything fit the actor, especially the way the helmet sat. It looked a bit better in the later battle scene, but not when he met with Krennic.

I read that too and they can say whatever they want until they change their minds again.

It wasn't stated on screen as cannon. And even if it was, it could be ret-conned into anything such as the Kessel run in 12 parsecs.

Whatever. The bottom line is the costume in the Mustafar scene was laughably bad and looked worse than most people dressed up as Vader at a Comic-Con. No excuse for Disney/LFL to botch it that bad. End of story.

Not any worse than Vaders helmet literally falling off during the TIE Fighter scene.

I mean face it, it's not the 100% ANH, but it's far from laughably bad.

Pablo Hidalgo said he would not say it was minutes, implied more like hours, when film makers said minutes, you took it too literally. Of course you probably don't want to be told how parts of Vader's costume have changed in the OT middle of scenes as well. But if you wanna be OCD, go for it. These people have jobs more than just costuming and nitpicking every tiny thing.

Haha..great thread and great pics,guys.:)
Its hard to say whats the source of this parts is..but look on the dents on the dome...so this could have a source from screenused(EFX LE???)

I have been thinking about that as well Kroenen! But I don't think it was. because the dome to facemask transition is fat more in line with ESB and ROTJ than ANH look at the first slot on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. In ANH and on the EFX helmets the widows peak ends right about that slot. The rogue one helmet's dome seems to be slightly slimmer than the ANH one. Regardig the widows peak on the RO helmet it is ends much higher and the eye sockets are completely visible. While in ANH they were partially visible. Furthermore the neck on the rogue one seems to be somewhere extended.17410311_10154407011333568_1223726278_n.jpg

The cape looks like a cheap polyester hallowen costume cape... no weight, no drape...

But I loved the way Vader's cape blew around in the docking bay airlock when the Tantive V was escaping. It looked really cool, which I think is the point. Vader looked and felt like Vader throughout R1, no doubt. Agreed that the costume in the Tantive escape scenes were better than the Mustafar scenes. But still: VADER.

I can't disagree with this. It really was more of a Halloween costume look.

That subject has been beaten to death/like a dead horse here and other forums. Wish they would fix this for the video release.

Yes,your right...the stripe over the dome is also higher on the ANH originalhelmet. The silver on the nose of the RO-facemask looks like one of the plasticinlays from a Rubiesmask!:lol
The RO-dome could also be a complete new sculpt..who knows..hope we will see something new on the bluray release this may.

The nose in the bottom left shot looks like a Rubie's plastic insert! Yuck!

Wouldn't count on it. These are screengrabs from the digital release of the movie. It's not going to be altered before the blu ray release.

OMG I hadn't even noticed the nose inlay!!

Um, actually the whole point of their job is to get it right. That's what they're paid to do. There's no excuse why people on a prop forum should have more insight on this than someone working on the damn movie. :facepalm

Exactly!

The film makers job is to make a good movie. Exactly matching props isn't normally a high priority. They weren't always good at matching props within the same film either.

That doesn't excuse having a poor looking Vader though. Even though he has pretty limited screen time, more effort should have been put into making the costume look good and fit the actor properly. This isn't some obscure character no one cares about.

I could have understood the costume not looking exactly the same, but what we ended up with was disappointing.
