Rogue One Death Trooper research (CG model sorry)

You may have already noticed this but it appears they have the same "belt buckle box" Vader has and their groin plate seems to be similar to his too, only not in leather.

I don't care about reshoots or any other production problems they might be having. That shot is enough to make me geek out like a 10 year old!

Yeah, all of the Storm/Death Trooper pics from that EW article are pretty awesome. All of the Stormies wading out of the water?!

Thanks for the ref and comments guys. Accuracy is absolutely a goal of mine here, so in light of some newer shots I'll be getting back to this as soon as I can.

There are some very high resolution shots kicking around the internet from the EW article. Have cropped them to the trooper below. I absolutely see issues with my bucket shape based on this new stuff:

I haven't had any time of late to get back to this project, but this image just surfaced online:

I haven't been able to find better pics of it, but it's something at last to finally enable to me to make some half decent orthographic drawings (assuming its accurate!).

Perspective corrected in Photoshop, smaller side view aligned with it etc etc:

I love all these pics you keep finding. The Hi Res ones are amazing. You can really see the details. Hoping lots of pics surface next week. :)

I thought I spotted this on the Celebration poster, but the new pictures show it much better: the death troopers use the SE-14r as their sidearm:

They also seem to wear gloves similar to the ones used by First Order stormtroopers:

Also, it seems like there's standard and heavy death troopers variants. The standard one carries the E-11-like blaster:

adadd.jpg

I thought I remembered seeing that stock before (Deadshot uses one on a Daniel Defense DDM4 MK18 in Suicide Squad) and I've managed to ID it as a sliding stock for AR-15-style weapons (http://www.wgcshop.com/products?sea...l-parts--hk416c-aeg-stock-assembly-complete):

addsdssd.jpgahddgfdgfdfg.jpg

Funnily enough, this means that, like the F-11Ds, the death trooper blaster has two collapsible stocks.

Another thing I thought I saw on the Celebration poster: their weapons have the knock off SureFire M300 flashlights seen on the normal E-11s (looks like my guess about flashlights on IMFDB was right; maybe there will be a shot illuminated by flashlights):

The heavy death troopers seem to use a blaster based on the DLT-19 with added stuff, like what seems to be two flashlights:

The Parts of Star Wars identified the vests and magazines the heavies use as the "Condor Barrage Chest Rig" (http://www.condoroutdoor.com/Condor-US1051-Barrage-Chest-Rig.aspx) and "H&K magazines for the H&K Model 91 or G-3 .308 rifle," respectively:

The heavy troopers also have MP 40 magazine pouches (like some sandtroopers and First Order stormtroopers):

They've also got some fictional grenades:

And here's where I got the pictures from: http://imgur.com/gallery/t3ID7

Sorry for the long post.

I just noticed that Chirrut Îmwe looks to have the same metal thing on his wrist that the death troopers have:

And here's some other random things I saw, but wasn't sure where to post.

Cassian Andor's blaster pistol is AR-15-based.

The MB450 macrobinoculars are back:

And Andor's scope looks like it's broken:

There's one right behind him that isn't:

I posted in another thread earlier, but since this seems to be THE thread to discuss Death Troopers, I'll post here too. The boots worn by the Death Troopers are Dr. Martens Mayer boots, no longer available in the US or UK, but can be found on eBay from time to time. I posted comparison pictures in this thread. -> http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=263949

Evening mate
I was just wondering where the original source for this photo was from please? I'm desperate to get my hands on a copy of the packaging there
Was the original a screen shot or was that how you posted it? Just curious :D

Studio 49: as far as I understand it that packaging is from some rogue one merchandise that was accidentally leaked early for sale in I think Malaysia? It was posted in the Facebook R1 trooper armory group.

I need this file in my life, are you considering on modeling the new ot stormtrooper as well? I'm looking to commission someone to design an entire suit and helmet for 3D printing.

This pic is cool because up close like that it's easier (for me at least) to see how the original stormtrooper is the base for this. Also, it looks like the two pieces coming off of the front right above the green lights and go back into the helmet are tubes which makes me feel like it's more functional than just decorative. I really like the thought the designers put into all of these helmets (including the regular stormy) in order to give the parts an appearance of function.
