Rocketeer assistance needed!

Rocketeer

New Member
Hi there!

I'm new to the forum and I have a few Rocketeer related questions.

I recently re-awakened my childhood obsession with the Rocketeer and have been racking my brain trying to think of ways to craft my own props/costume. In my searching about I came across this forum and noticed all the Rocketeer builds going on here (not to slander, but a lot more than some other forums!)

Cutting to the chase, I was looking for assistance/professional opinions on my plans for a build. I'm thinking of building a pep helmet and then covering it with fiberglass when I'm happy with the layout. I'm tinkering with the thought of purchasing an Acme helmet but I'm broke at the moment, so I'm looking for alternative ways to build (or building in steps while I make some money in between). In regards to the helmet, I'm curious about the dimensions of the Acme helmet and I'm wondering if I could get some measurements.

I also plan on building the rocket, but using furnace piping then covering it with fiberglass (as I saw some others have already done) as I can't afford the Acme version at the moment. I have some measurements (I believe from this forum) but I require a few more.

I would appreciate any help and any ideas you guys might have regarding my build.

Thanks for your time!

Man I did not know that Rocketeer wasn't taken as a forum name. Now I'm sads.

i didnt pick the rocketeer when i first joined because i didnt want to bug people when they searched for the rocketeer and have my posts keep coming up haha

Thanks! I did see those before, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I need a couple extra measurements.

See the attached file. I took the one with measurements on it already (copied the actual measurements too) and I added 9 through 18, if you or someone else could post those dimensions.

I also attached a file of the helmet with the same idea. How much does the Acme helmet go for? Just so I have a price in mind for the future...

I got some great ideas from seeing these other projects. Thanks again!

And EvilRocketeer... I'm envious of your collection! I saw the movie when I was very young and was really into it back then. I can't remember if I saw it in theaters tho... Anyway, it was my favourite movie of all time and I wore out the VHS because I watched it so many times. Always searching for something Rocketeer at Toys'R'Us... I was really happy when my sis got me the DVD a couple years ago for Christmas but I'm starting to think that its doing me more harm than good. I want everything from the movie now! And with the awesomeness of the internet anything is possible. Its just a matter of having the money to spend on it!

if you are a perfectionist, i recommend saving money to buy the acme kits....

I tried scratch building my costume, but once it hit the hundreds mark....I figured it was better to give up and save to buy the kits.....no matter how hard i tried, it will never come close to the kits.....my handy skills are kindergartner, so you may have better luck than i did...

helmets are 200 while packs run a grand

Didn't think of that -_-U I guess I should be @$$holeRocketeer for being a jerk to them other peoples looking for Rocketeer goods...

Curses! I'll eventually get to the acme kits... I did want to try my hand at building my own and I figured even with the hundreds adding up, it may only come out to half the price of getting both the helmet and rocket kits. I'm known to be 'crafty' and I think I would to a half decent job at it. But at the same time I know it won't be the best. I've done some odd handy work here and there but I've never tried building anything of this scale. I built a few swords from wood which turned out pretty cool but this is another ball game.

I better sleep on this...

Thanks! I appreciate your advice!

dont worry....i am the only person that used the search button for the rocketeer anyways....ill go through the hassle ;)

I recommend.....saving money for the rocketeer helmet.....200 is cheap for an amazing helmet.......and scratch build the pack.....

I might be able to help you save some cash. I've got an extra rotocast copy that's been sitting on my storage shelf for years. It's a reject with some warpage and I just didn't want to bother with it since it was easier for me just to pour a new one from my mold. Other than that it's a perfecty clean cast.

PM me if you're interested and I'll set you up on the cheap.

Where are you finding the helmet kits for $200? Everywhere I've looked online no longer carries them, except on eBay for $1700 :unsure

Sounds tempting... I'll need some money first... How would one go about fixing that warpage? Like I mentioned before, I've never done this sort of project so I don't know what I'm up for. Thanks for the offer, I'll PM you once I come across some cash.

Thanks for your assistance, everyone!

Good day

I hope all is well ! Anyone out there point me in the direction to acquire some rocketeer gear ?

Thanks
