I have the great 1979 issue of Cinefantastique which shows a few drawings from the original prints, but does anyone know of a source for a complete set of prints... preferably hard copies?

Yea, thanks. I also found that one. I gotta few LIS episodes on disc. I guess I'll have to get the rest to have all the Robby stuff, too.

Yea, I may be mistaken, but I thought tht was Bill Malone's replica robot in a few of those 70's shows? Like the one at that convention we saw way back. That was also Bill Malone's.

Yeah, I know that was a replica back then...remember we were pissed cause it couldn't talk LOL.
I wish we would have gottenna better look at it then.
Certainly was magic though.

For the record, I remember Ruth too ;)

I believe Fred Barton has a display of all his robots (including Robby) down in Anaheim this weekend at the World Science Fiction Convention.

I have always liked Robby better than the B9.....I would love to be able to have one....is there a Robby builders club ????

Not so long as Fred Barton holds the license, I think...

Yeah, from the Ark II era onward, all Robby appearances were not the original. The original was already in the Movie World Museum by that time.

An old STARLOG article interviews Bill Malone about it.

Re: Robby the Robot

revisiting my thread here... does anyone have any firm dimensions of the original Robby... exact height, girth, etc?

Re: Robby the Robot

I have blueprints of him in all of his incarnations but it's framed. I just picked up a replacement because the one I have is a black and white print and I wanted a "Blueprint," and mine got water damaged on one corner. Long story short, the b/w is going to be available if you want them.
Like this but b/w and with a stain on the lower left hand corner:

Send me a pm.

Ghost Host,

This month's edition of Robot Magazine might be helpful.

The irony of that article is that I'm pretty sure that several of the robots shown in that article are unlicensed bootleg creations. I think I remember an article where it talked about Barton having made one-off robots for clients on commission. I could be misremembering. I'm not aware of him advertising any licensed versions of those robots, or the LIS B9 that he has done either. He may have a "Robot Builders" license now for that, but I'm pretty sure he's made them before that was around.

I guess it's okay for Fred to violate intellectual property rights owned by others (for profit), but it's not okay to even talk about potentially doing the same for personal use only with IP he licenses.

Gotta love it!

Re: Robby the Robot

Thank you all for posting, and yea, I believe you are right, SF.

BTW, I am not announcing my plans for my Robby project. It could be that I want to make a cardboard standee for my family room... but in any event, I'm really after at least a few firm dimensions, especially height.
