Rise of the Planet of the Apes SPOILERS

I didn't understand your review at all Larry, but now I have to go see this movie. I mean, NOTHING will be as bad as Captain America. Right?
:lol

{runs away laughing}

Well unless you count every movie ever made. Nothing stands up to Captain America.

(Stands my ground both feet firmly planted)

Very good movie. Two-three points that had me going ok, that would never happen. The apes were like good 3D - after a while, you didn't notice. There was a lot of time spent on the raising of Ceasar, so don't expect a lot of carnage and actual takeover.

So the virus that makes the apes crazy smart is leathal to humans.

I suppose you could say later they try to contain the pandemic with nukes and bye-bye human race. Well, most of it.

Are there plans to make another movie? I sure hope so. I'd like to see what Caesars next moves would be.

Hey gang.... glad everyone enjoyed it. I finally got to see the final product tonight. I'm the prop maker who did all the canisters and some of the lab equipment for the film. I figured I would pop in and say hello to everyone.

Kenney

Great job Kenney! Any collectibles going to be produced from the movie? (Hint... the canisters would be AWESOME!)

Oh man, I just got home from the show. It was amazing! I knew it would be good but not this good. I loed all the subtle nods to all the old films. I even laughed when the employee was watching heston on the tv.

I just about nerdgasm'd in my pants when caeser said no.

I honestly think andy serkis deserves an award for his portrayal of caesar.

I have been mind-blasted.

I absolutely loved it! Best Movie of this year! I been disappointed with the majority of the blockbusters this summer.....i always felt meh after them......

I had high expectations for this film.....it met them and surpass them........absolutely wonderful.....

It was fantastic. My friends and I were all blown away. I went into it not reading one review. Why can't all movies be done this well? Just awesome, on all fronts!

Hi oneye,
Again... glad you liked the movie. As for collectibles? Lol I don't know. If someone wanted to pick up the license, I may be interested in making a small run of canisters.

Yep. I saw it last night and REALLY enjoyed it. The story flowed and the CGI was near flawless.

Supposedly this is a re-boot of the franchise with 2 more in the works.

I thought this was gonna suck so I am pleasently surprised!

I'm rather surprised by the response, to be honest. I've been on the fence about this one since I saw the trailers, and the general consensus on the 'net seemed to be that it wasn't going to be very good. I guess I'll have to give this one a whirl after all.

watch the Tim Burton film first then watch this one.....you will definitely like it after that hahaha

The way I looked at it a few months back......it had james franco in it. He is a great actor and I enjoyed most of his films....... Plus, the burton film was absolutely horrendous....It was god awful....anything will be better than burtons adaptation...

Rise of the Planet of the APes was a great film and my favorite movie of this summer

Don't feel bad I was right there with you, I thought the trailer was horrendous and that this was going to be awful heck even Micdavis hated it! :D

Looking forward to seeing it tonight

Forgot to mention Charlton Heston's cameo, and Ceaser putting together a model of... the Statue of Liberty! Plus a great quote from the original film incorporated perfectly.
It was a great movie - Andy Serkis absolsutely deserves an Oscar!

charlton hestons cameo? i must had missed it.....where was it

I'm so glad to hear this movie is getting some positive review! My dad has been wanting to see this really badly and I plan on taking him. I didn't have any desire initially but after seeing the trailers, it looked really interseting. I LOVE the original POTA films and my father grew up watching them. Should be fun and again really glad to hear you guys raving about it! :)

One more homage to the original: the Brian Cox and Tom Felton characters (who are father & son) share the last name "Landon"; and Felton's character's first name is "Dodge". FYI - Both "Landon" and "Dodge" were part of Col. Taylor's doomed crew.

As far as possible sequels go, as I mentioned in a different thread I worked on the publicity for this movie and there was one Behind-The-Scenes photo in the press kit that shows Andy Serkis (as Caesar) standing fully upright on the balcony of what appears to be a treehouse dressed in a cloak similiar to the clothes worn by the apes in the original; and another photo showing him seated on what appears to be a throne of some kind. As my wife and I sat through the credits I kept waiting for some final tag scene to see if those shots would appear but they didn't - so there you go.
