Rigid PVC? What are credit cards made of?

I'm trying to find the same sheet material that loyalty cards and bank cards and all that jazz. I believe it's PVC 760microns. However, I can't seem to find it in a sheet size. I've seen rigid PVC which seems to come in a variety of thicknesses between 0.2mm to 6mm.

Essentially, I'm looking for a plastic which is thin (< 1mm), rigid and stiff (like PVC is, not like polypropylene is) and you can cut with scissors (without cracking). I thought Foamex (or Sintra) was what I was looking for, but I don't think foamed PVC is strong enough. I've not been able to touch any plastics to find an appropriate material other than PP, which is hard to stick to.

Can anyone recommend a UK supplier of a material that fits the bill, in quantities less than an 2440 x 1220 sheet? Please?

I hope you aren't planning on forging credit cards :) but have you considered sheet styrene? In my local hobby shop (selling train set parts and model kits) they sell it in about A4 sized sheets in various thicknesses from paper thin (about .05, I think, to 2mm. If you need bigger sheets you might be able to source a manufacturer. Smaller pieces feel credit card like.

Just had a quick Google and found this:

I knew someone would comment on that. Nope, not credit cards, it just happened to be a card I used last time and it worked so well. HIPS was another product I looked at, but haven't seen any either. I'll try and find some sort of hobby shop in Cardiff and feel their merchandise. Thanks a lot!

bank cards and the such are made out of multiple layers of polyvinyl chloride acetate (PVCA) that are all laminated together. The layers can be molded clear as well but the price goes up dramatically.

ABS sheet should work. Plastruct/EMA makes it in thin sheets, it's the glossy gray sheets and it's pretty tough stuff. Look for it in the hobby shop.
