Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

Actually "Zeta Reticuli" is a real binary star system in the Reticulum constellation. (presumably "II" is the designation of the second star in the system).

The actual planetoid (it's very small) is called Acheron in the novelization of Alien but called "LV-426" in dialogue in Aliens.

Hey Phase, I'm quoting the director. And I thought everyone here including myself came to the conclusion that the planet that Prometheus lands on is NOT LV-426. If the Nostromo was close to the system, and the derelict came from the planet that Prometheus lands on which is in Zeta Reticuli, it's still a relatively short trip.

And the story of any creation is eventually a child will try to destroy its parents. It’s a very paranoid world view, mythologically-speaking it pops up a lot.

Yeah... It really does....

Idiot: The created will always rebel against their creators. But we've found a way to stop that from happening. A way to restore order for the next cycle. Without us, synthetics would destroy all organic.

And Prometheus is making a huge deal in regards to the role of Synthetics. I fear the twist of the movie is... the Jockeys are killing us so we won't get killed by our own synthetics. They're going to kill the Alien franchise the way they killed the Mass Effect series! I can't do this anymore!

I just saw that hologram and thought oh hell it's ME3 again. :lol

Ridley Scott: The planet where they go is called Zeta II Reticuli.

Sounds like the derelict from ALIEN didn't make it far before it crashed.

My very worst fear for this movie seems to be confirmed....I do want to see me some new Scott SF but I'm hating these story ideas so much...

And I'm not sure anyone else really is either. It's kinda the prequel that isn't a prequel but kinda is.....a little bit...but not really. Excited about it either way though.

I hope they release some more viral marketing type stuff or something. less than a month to go and i haven't been whipped into a fever pitch yet!

Obviously somewhat truncated, but it kind of bugs me that the forward console requires the captain to be at the mercy of any turbulence the ship experiences. Might look cool but being harnessed into a chair feels more real, particularly for a rough planetary descent.

And 'just like home' - isn't that an Aliens line? Hope there aren't anymore corny nods/winks.

If you mean Parker's line after they lift off it was, "Walk in the park. When we fix something it stay's fixed, right Brett?"

No - first of all I was thinking Lambert maybe in Alien, then I was thinking Vasquez in Aliens said a similar throwaway line. Probably just getting twitchy, eleventh hour and all...

Actually, just re-watched Alien a day or so ago and there's so many things that directly reflect the two. I know it's truly 'not'.. but I couldn't help tease the idea of a reboot for a split second. Even had to laugh when I heard an 'it's okay..."
