Ridley Scott Prometheus: NOT the Alien Prequel Details

I might have a hard time accepting it if the planet in this film is supposed to be LV-426 and the ship is supposed to be the same derelict as in ALIEN. I'm hoping that there's more to it than that.

See above - Carson says it ain't, just like the visuals suggest.

And, YES HE IS. Also, neo-elitists be damned; DC > theatrical release. :p

If I remember "Dangerous Days" correctly, Ridley got annoyed because people on the set of Blade Runner kept questioning him on why it was raining all the time. His reply was "Because I #@!%@%$#*% want it to!"

After watching that documentary, I am sure everything in Prometheus is going to be exactly how he wants it.

I CAN NOT WAIT! I want to see this movie more than the Avengers, The Hobbit, and the Dark Knight combined!

And I still can not stop thinking of how insane I am going to be when I get to see pics and a trailer for whatever Ridley does with Blade Runner.

I dont hate the Star Wars prequels, but watching the Prometheus trailer makes me imagine how great they could have been.

Ridley Scott would stop a shoot on both Alien and BR to stir the fog by hand - to get exactly what he wanted to see on film. I'm sure he'll be no less exacting here.

It may be that the first chair is how it looked before the years of decay. Perhaps all of the softer surface materials eroded away to reveal the chair as we know it in Alien. Speculation aside, I'll reserve my opinions until after the final credits roll.

i have answer for why the walls look different. in ALIEN in between the wall segments was bone like struture yet in prometheus that structure is non existent.
anyone remeber that the hive in ALIENS had a bone like structure to it as the marines first entered it.
we know that below the sj chair is an egg chamber that had the same bone structure.
my guess is that the sj chair room in prometheus is slightly different cos it has not been turned into a hive yet. this has to happen as also a chestburster has to come out of a space jokey whilst he was webbed to the chair, hence the look of it growing out of the char

He's got too much to prove with this film to let it be a bit wishy washy, I dont think it will please a lot of fans that really cant except its not LV-426 and cant except there will be no "Alien" in it, there are so many people on the forums elsewhere that just seem stupid and blind already, everything they see gets turned in to what they want to see rather than what it actually is. Its quite hard reading posts by people that just dont get it. ITS NOT A DIRECT PREQUEL THAT LEADS INTO ALIEN...... Its a movie about things that exist with in that universe and is set before Alien. The amount of times I've read "look a burster" or " I can see them turning into facehuggers". I think its time to clear the slate on this movie and just wait and see what actually happens and enjoy it unfold.

If you look closely at 58 secs in the trailer you can clearly see a sign on the side of the chamber saying "Face Hugger Free Zone" and on the ceck of the human ship you can see photographs of the crew from ALien...Maybe they're all in it and it is Alien but set earlier.

I think if you stare at the gravel on the planet with the crashing SJ ship you can see each grain has a picture of LV-425 on it but its only just noticeable through Hubble telescope pointing directly at the trailer on a 100 inch plasma screen.

If you play all the audio from Ridley interviews backwards you can clearly hear him say the words. "GET A LIFE *********"

:lol

just watched the trailer again and noticed two things.

first the holographic image of a solar system, look at the floor and walls of the room. it looks very similar to the space jokey chair room.
also at the 51 second mark we see a close up of one of the female characters face in agony screaming what sounds like "please".. wonder what this could be about?

Well, to be fair Guy including the Derelict, the Space Jockey, Weylund, and opening title credits which are a direct copy from ALIEN Scott is certainly keeping this pretty squarely in the ALIEN prequel rumor mill! Personally I appreciate this won't actually be that story and look forward to enjoying it for whatever it turns out to be but that old fox Scott is a clever one. :)

It's a shame that the space jockey is being turned into a space suit. I always like some of the concept work fans came up with for the alien creature-

To be fair, its been said more than once its not the derelict and it is "a" Space Jockey not "The" Space Jockey from Alien. The reason I think its not a direct leading into prequel is its not a direct leading into prequel. It clearly is from the same universe and clearly about a Jockey and the tea leafing humans that upset them.

Its not a film about why the derelict is on LV-426, as much as people want it to be, it isn't. This info is from the film makers and Ridley, not me.

Go on AVPgalaxy and read some of the comments in threads about what people think this film has in it and is about, then come back here & tell me they're not deluded :lol

It was slightly upsetting even for me that the Jockey looks humanoid, I've seen Alien almost as many times as Empire Strikes back and not once did I think...oooooh I bet thats just a suit with a tall weird bloke inside..... Jockey not Alien that is :behave

Amongst fans of the original film (myself included), the "space jockey as spacesuit" business was always going to be a controversial choice -- probably the most controversial of the entire production. It's the biggest egg Scott & Company had to break in order to serve up this particular cinematic omelet, and the extent to which they can be forgiven will depend entirely upon how much we like the finished product.

Time will tell...

I hope a powerful sci fi story is dwelling within the familiar wrappings.
Seems more the angle they are selling then the straight up horror of ALIEN.
I'm not convinced the story leaks are really accurate.
Perhaps a more cerebral horror this time.

Well I for one do NOT want to see the planet in PROMETHEUS turn out to be LV426 (or to be more precise, "Acheron," since the LV name was not introduced until ALIENS)....so I guess I'm going to be pretty happy then. :D

Yes I did read that plot synopsis that broke a few months ago... I HOPE that it is not accurate. Or if it is, I hope Ridley can make a film out of it that does not make me want to run screaming out of the theater. :lol

Then again he DID say he wanted to "scare the sh•t out of us", so... :unsure

I am sure whatever it turns out to be, it will be challenging, there will be parts of it that I just can't stand, and that over time I will come to respect it as the masterpiece that it is. :lol
